This is such an eye-opener. If you haven't seen it, the movie chronicles Afghanistan's Tolo TV's attempt to stage its own version of Pop Idol (American Idol to us) and the ramifications it is having on Afghan society and tribal rivalries.

Really an eye opener about how women are treated in Afghanistan, though.

Some unintentionally funny things in it, some sadly funny things.
Most excellent look into the current culture.

3. It was truly eye-opening

You hear the news reports that Karzai can barely control anything outside of Kabul city limits, but when you hear how seriously the contestants take death threats from the Taliban even today, you know Afghanistan remains in serious trouble.
