Ready for the latest stupidity?
Here it is, Sign the Petition For Amendment XXVIII“Man has the inherent right to not engage in commerce”.

http://www.criticalbias.com/petition-for-amendment-xxviii/

Which is a reaction to (guess) the Health Care Reform Act. Apparently there is this gut wrenching need out there now to guarantee that Americans have a right not to shop. I wonder, can we push for an amendment that prohibits the creation of new amendments by people who do not have a clue about the old ones?

The teabaggers and related conservatives are doing a swan dive into the idiot pond lately. Seriously.

5. "The Onion" was my first reaction, but....
sad to say this looks very real. Which leads me to this: what kind of world is it today where REALITY is more bizarre and hilarious than The Onion?

3. If they agree to opt out of using hospitals, doctors, or drugs...
I will agree to allow them to opt out of having insurance. However, if they opt out, and they or their kids show up at a hospital, they get charged for past premiums, and they lose the right to opt out any more.
It's common sense. It's personal responsiblity. We know every American will eventually end up at the hospital (regardless of their ability to pay). Every American should be able to pay for the services. If the government makes insurance affordable for everybody, then everybody should have to buy insurance. No arguments.

9. So when do you think it's going to happen?
As I said, I don't think it's ever going to happen.

There seems to me to be little point in discussing things with such a low probability of coming to pass.

10. The car insurance aspect has been discussed to a fare thee well here..
You do not have to buy car insurance unless you intend to drive your car on public roads, it's not the same thing as forcing someone to purchase a private product just because they are breathing.

Southworth warned that teaching a student how to properly use contraceptives would be contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a misdemeanor punishable by up to nine months behind bars and a $10,000 fine. He said it would be promoting sex among minors, who are not legally allowed to have sex in Wisconsin.

12. Forcing someone to buy private insurance just because they are breathing
Essentially forces them to engage in commerce.
