What are these clowns running on? Repealing the health care bill? Making Grandma and Grandpa pay more for their medications? Knocking all of the kids off their parents health insurance plans? Reinstating preexisting conditions? Running against Wall Street reform and consumer protections? Running as the party of no?

Who are we kidding???

If "we" let them win they may, but if we turn out to vote, and our usually sheepish noise machine (more line jack in the box) doesn't begin taking advantage of the contribution advantage we have over the RNC, maybe they can steal a few seats.

But I don't think the public is that stupid to allow these violence-happy, 1st Amendment denying, threatening uneducated assholes to run the government. 8 years of failed Bush policies was enough.

1. Unfortunately, they are that stupid
otherwise no republican would have been elected after Ray-Gun.

2. The electronic voting machines are what worries me
or like in my case we use an electronic vote counting machine and every since we have our politics has sucked big time.
No one is talking about the machines and it worries me

4. It is called projection
They say it, then they repeat it constantly. Many people will believe it and some will even fall for it and question their vote and if they should also be voting for the republicans.

If they say it enough maybe it will come true.

5. To build on what madokie said, our Corporate Neofeudal Inverted Totalitarianism
Edited on Fri Apr-09-10 10:47 AM by tom_paine
(try saying THAT 4 times real fast)

seems to operate as a single unit. I am getting tired of trying to guess the hows, whys, and detailed mechanics of such precision, so lets just look at the previous results and postulate the future from them.

Corporate M$M and the RW Lie Machine write the backstory that the Owners of our Inverted Totalitarian Nation want us to believe...and believe it we do, even to the extent that most people STILL believe our media is "liberal"

It is quite clear that our Owners have been socially engineering a RW Authoritarianism as rapidly as they are able to, without losing their Plausible Deniability and breaking cover. Obama was allowed to win by the Owners looting the economy and crashing it on their way out - he never would have been able to overcome the RW Lie Machine/Corporate M$M unless the economy had crashed.

Also, the "win" by Obama gave the Owners a renewed blast of Plausible Deniability to the degree that almost all of the American Subject Populace will NEVER EVER AGAIN question our laughably riggable and untrustworthy voting systems. Obama, for his part, is not threatening the Owners in any substantive way, witness the vast expansion of corporate power in the HCR Bill and his stated desire to let the myriads of Loyal Bushie Felons go without a single investigation.

Which sets us up for a depressingly familiar script, now that Plausible Deniability has been ladled out.

The Bushpublicans are going to gain seats, and very likely lots of them, no matter what Plebians push what buttons in what phony voting process who's results are more of a "suggested starting point" for rigging rather than actual voting. (we should still vote anyway, if only to particpate in Reality TV) No one will ask any questions because the Corporate M$M and RW Lie Machine are writing the script that will be passively accepted, as they all are.

The minimum amount of Plausible Deniability, after 8 years of hideous Bush failures and the looting of the economy, is 2 years of Democratic "control" (which does not threaten the Owners in the least) followed by another '94.

Only THIS time I think the Bushies have such control over the voting systems, combined with their control over Corporate M$M, that Obama won't be granted a second term by The Owners. He will have fulfilled his usefulness while simultaneously expanding many Bush policies and Corporate Power.

To my mind, it is foolish to analyze American politics as we would a Free Nation's politics, simply because we are NOT a Free Nation. "American Kremlinology" is what is required to understand where our Inverted Totalitarianism is going, more RW Authoritarian and more brutal.

Obama's not even slowing it down and he has made no changes that will interfere with the RW Authoritarians continuing right from where they left off in 2013 or 2017 (though, as I said I severely doubt Obama will be granted a second term by The Owners of America).

6. It's this type of post that would make one wonder "why bother voting?"......
This self defeatist "the fix is in" attitude is as bad, if not worse for the nation,
as those who we call the opposition. If enough folks think exactly like you,
we might as well just committ mass suicide, and not bother to wake up in the morning.
Thank goodness, not everyone thinks like this....especially the young people and
the minorities that came out in record numbers and voted in 2008. I'll be trying to
get them out again this time, while I we can guess what you'll be doing. :eyes:

9. Oh Frenchie - you KNOW I campiagned hard for Obama in 2008
Edited on Fri Apr-09-10 11:34 AM by tom_paine
Spent my entire election day canvassing two towns in PA's KKK Country (not 10 years ago crosses burned on the lawn of an African-American couple who moved in - and then sadly, moved out again)

I SAID that we should all vote, if only to particpate in Reality TV. That not good enough for ya'? I'll add something else - we should vote if only to make the Loyal Bushies work harder to steal and suppress more votes, and we should vote just in case I am wrong about our easily riggable voting systems being rigged.

(not wrong that they are easily riggable - that has been demonstrated many times over, including a "mainstream" HBO special)

'Course, I thought Obama would be closer to FDR than Clinton. Boy, was I surprised! HCR = few crumbs from Master's Table in exchange for a MASSIVE expanision of Corporate Power that, combined with the Bush Court's ruling on Corporate Personhood, will kill whatever wretched remnants remain of The Old American Republic (1776-2000, RIP)

Oh, and hey, not prosecuting Bushie High Crimes and Misdemeanors is SURE to reduce future High Crimes and Misdemeanors by Loyal Bushies in the future.

I'll be voting, for the reasons I stated above, and will continue to do so as I always have.

But don't piss on my neck and tell me it's raining. And don't expect me to go out of my way for someone who has FAR more affinity and loyalty to the RW Corporate Assholes who are reducing this nation to a medieval trash-heap than any of the poor little plebs like you and I who made the phone calls and knocked on the doors.

And don't tell me to ignore the reality that the principles of advertising, marketing and PR (which is to say Creating The Big Lie) have infiltrated every aspect of American Life, including our laughably untrustworthy "elections", and that Kremlinology is the way to analyze future events in our Inverted Totalitarianism that was once sorta free.

7. What kind of gains, if any, do you think the Republicans (or Democrats) will have in November?
An approximation.

When the economy is not up to par a plurality or majority of folks blame the incumbent party regardless of who that party is and whether they are really to blame. It just is.
