20. so if N. Korea started shelling the living daylights out of Seoul in an unprovoked attack
you'd object to our coming to the aid of S. Korea?

26. who cares? you honestly think one government is more honest or noble than the other?
Edited on Thu Apr-08-10 07:28 PM by ixion
that's a laugh.

If we're so noble, why did we stand by when China invaded Tibet? There are plenty of examples. If we defended SK, there would be something in it for us. Nothing noble about it.

27. what's a laugh is anyone being ignorant enough to believe that the gov't of N. Korea
Edited on Thu Apr-08-10 07:40 PM by cali
is no worse than the gov't of S. Korea.

Actually, it's shocking to see that kind of idiocy- anywhere. And if you knew anything whatsofucking ever about about the situation with the artillery that N. Korea has aimed at Seoul, you'd understand that we're not talking about a scenario even remotely like China/Tibet. Not to mention, dear, that we have a Treaty with S. Korea.

30. this is all just so much machinations
as I said, there are no real noble motives in any military action. You go ahead and kid yourself all you want if that makes you happy.

Edited on Thu Apr-08-10 07:46 PM by Zywiec
Did anyone? How about Grenada? Panama? Anyone?

We have these agreements in place with South Korea. You may want to learn a little more about how the world really works and not how you wished it would work.

9. No.
Unless there is a verifiable, unprovoked attack on American soil, or American citizens and a continuing verifiable threat to our national security, no military action is warranted, and in my opinion legal.

13. Absolutely not. We have to stop invading third world countries
because of some imagined threat. It's time to go back to diplomacy and if Hillary Clinton can't do the job then bring Madeline Albright back, who could keep all the tin pot dictators in line.

what if we're attacked by little green men?

S. Korea has nothing to gain and an unbelievable amount to lose in hostilities. The gov't of S. Korea is not unstable or batshit crazy.

40. Clearly, if we're attacked by little green men, we need to invade Canada.
Blame Canada...

We all know Canadians have been in collusion with little green men for decades... I hear there are kill or capture orders being drafted as we speak, just in case... one for each and every Canadian citizen and resident alien. Just in case...

21. I don't support war at all ...
but even if one does attacking either of these countries would be sheer madness. We have a war already a big one. Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen and Pakistan. Where would the troops come from for a ground action? There would have to be a draft.

We did this dance with Korea once before and it ended in a virtual stalemate. My husband's late father was a soldier there and fought in the battle of Choison Reservoir. He came home with Malaria, frostbite and a bitterness he never lost. It affected the whole rest of his life.

Iran would probably go pretty much the way Iraq did. A lot of urban warfare with no definition, no front line and a lot of military and civilian deaths. Can't we ever learn? The US is not the world's policeman. Other nations have a right to self determination and that is what the people in Iran are taking to the streets and fighting for. They want to be rid of their government as much as this country would like to see it gone. Left alone they might succeed. If attacked they would turn on and try to repel the invaders which is how they would see us. We need to remember that citizens of other countries love their birthplace as much as we love the US.
