Interesting, both left and right seem to be for net neutrality.
Though the rightwing seems to be against government control and the left is against corporate control.

1. Americans in general value what they see as personal freedom. We overlap in this case.

2. oddly, the libertarians seem to oppose it
I suppose once you buy into corporate personhood, you also buy into "letting those corporations manage their infrastructure however they see fit." Oh, and you develop a magical inability to understand the concept of a regulated monopoly. Long story short, libertarians are, for the most part, twats.

4. Libertarians and Neo-Libs will be indistinguishable on this issue
"It's THEIR network, who are we-the-people to say they can't force feed subscribers their own local brand of crap content and choke off other websites that don't pay them protection money! If you don't like one network and their brand of crap, subscribe to another and swallow their competing crap-that's the sacred freedom of the Marketplace, forever, A-men"

3. But post-ideological centrists will stand on the right of ISPs to offer service on their own terms
Edited on Wed Apr-07-10 12:18 PM by kenny blankenship
take it or leave it, warrantless wiretapping and all - and layer onto that the additional "need to do something to protect intellectual property! If that takes network mega-corporations allying in a private consortium with content corporations to assume the police and judiciary functions of government - SO BE IT!"

At first I said "post-ideological pragmatists" would do this. But that is not what someone truly "interested in what works" would do. A real pragmatist would say, the arrangement we've had - network neutrality- has worked to the obvious benefit of the greatest number of people; keeping it requires no changes, thus we will leave it in place and unmolested. On the other hand, some people who like to call themselves pragmatists might want to make radical changes to net neutrality, but they are impostors who claim to be "interested in what works" while invariably favoring the interests of the already rich and powerful over the majority at every turn.

5. I honestly don't think Obama would be where he is without it
The mere presence of the Internet made it impossible for the MSM to "spin" their wares during the election. In an earlier time, disposing of Obama via Rev. Wright and Bittergate would have been child's play for them.
