With this quake swarm, any connection to the mine blast? No proof but
there seems to be a lot of global shaking.

2. I highly doubt it.
The mine blast wasn't caused by seismic activity, but by a methane explosion. The miners hit a gas pocket, Massey was too cheap to ventilate the mine properly, the gas levels built up until something ignited it, KABOOM!

3. What makes you think that there's more earthquakes than usual?
The fact that they're in the news? That's not representative of actual frequency.

6. Oh, stop it. This is a FAUX NEWS talking point
http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2010/04/06/seismic-events-triggered-explosion/

They're just trying to divert attention from the THOUSANDS of mine safety violations that Blankenship is facing.

Please don't fall into that trap.

7. You're trying to get the mineowners off by blaming plate tectonics?
Is this what they call a trial balloon?

10. There was a quake in W. Va. several days before the accident
and such quakes have been known to shift methane pockets around a bit, but there is no proof that a remote quake did that to the mine in question.

What seems to be the case is inadequate ventilation plus an inadequate gas warning system.

Deep mining is DANGEROUS. It should pay more than wimpy stock brokers get.

11. Nostradamus predicted the mine blast, so he gets credit.
Or maybe is was the Mayan calendar. Yep, that came first.

12. About a month ago I cautioned those along the New Madrid fault to check their emergency supplies, is
that being overly cautious?

14. Nope. No connection. A quake in Baja California is hardly
likely to affect a mine in West Virginia, you see. Post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy.
