http://www.nwfdailynews.com/news/possible-27678-crist-republican.htmlGov. Charlie Crist wants a federal prosecutor to investigate possible criminal conduct at the Republican Party of Florida.
Crist wrote to U.S. Attorney Thomas Kirwin on Monday asking for an investigation separate from one being conducted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, saying federal tax laws may have been violated through credit card abuses.
Last week, the party reported that former Chairman Jim Greer funneled donor money to himself through a corporation he set up with former executive director Delmar Johnson. Greer has denied any wrong doing.
Greer was Crist’s hand-picked chairman. Greer resigned under pressure in February after reports of lavish spending. For months, party activists and donors called for his resignation, but Crist defended him through the day he resigned.
