Palin Rep Slams East Coast
As a lifelong resident of the northeastern United States and specifically the Boston-Washington corridor it’s always bugged me that residents of other regions are allowed to roam the media landscape slamming my home turf as inauthentic even while claiming that we’re somehow oppressing them. What’s more, Sarah Palin is terrible:

With its tales of uplift and pluck, “Real American Stories” trades in the kind of easy sentimentality that provokes eye rolls among those of us who work in media while quickening the pulse and patriotic ardor of almost everyone else. At the beginning of the show, Ms. Palin promised that it would “reaffirm our pioneering spirit and unmatched generosity, here and around the world.” <...>

“It’s not the kind of thing that’s going to excite you guys on the East Coast, but everyone else is dying to hear stories like these,” said one of her representatives who was not authorized to speak on the record but was authorized to slam the East Coast.

Look. The East Coast contains six of the country’s ten largest metro areas and is the region that created the damn country in the first place. And now we’re supposed to sit here and get sneered at by people from Alaska?

Palin and her klan are unamerican assholes.

2. I'm from the Midwest. Live on the East Coast. People here care.

She however is the definition of a opportunist to pretend that they don't.

She aims for the provincially minded people with little going for them. I know her target. They're not confined by geography so much as narrow-minded.

7. Absolutely
Because, as we all know, the popular media just hate to make money pandering to people's fickle tastes. They'd rather give us high-brow entertainments like 38 difference Law and Order shows, 13 different CSI shows, and 84 cookie-cutter sitcoms with the beleaguered everyman main character, his shrew of a wife/girlfriend/mortal enemy, goofy pals, idiot older relation, and one halfway sane person.

8. Say!
That last everyman idea. I think it has legs.

Seriously, that is pitch-perfect. It describes 80% of sitcoms ever produced!

12. It would be so much
nicer to have a media that would say "Oh your not authorized to speak, come back when you get authorization". It would certainly get rid of 80% of the lame ass comments being offered as 'NEWS'.

13. I caught the beginning of that show. In addition to saying "our pioneering spirit"
She said the show would reaffirm our warrior culture or something very similar. I once visited a museum that was showcasing Nazi propaganda and this show along with Beck's fit the script to a T.

19. "“It’s not the kind of thing that’s going to excite you guys on the East Coast..."
I don't see that as a slam!
Not the least little bit.
I see that as a compliment.
Her "representative" is absolutely right.
We here on the East Coast are not at all interested in watching Sarah in all her vapidity read her scripted garbage into a camera while the Fox people scramble to find video footage to make it fit into some kind of "story."

No, the "slam" here is to the people of the West Coast, the Midwest, the South, the Mountain States and of course, Alaska and everywhere else, insinuating that people in those places ARE dumb enough to want to watch Sarah do her schtick.

I'm not insulted... the rest of you elsewhere should be!

20. Sarah's not from Alaska, she's from Idaho.
Sarah Palin's Alaska is not MY Alaska, and Sarah Palin's real American stories are no more or less real than anyone else's American stories. Whether she likes it or not, we're all in this mess together.

I'm sick to death of this woman.
