Just curious. I hope you can get someone better if you do, unless you like your Republican or Blue Dog congressperson.

to be taking Obama's senate seat

I give you Mark Kirk, faux moderate republican, who's first major campaign statement was a diatribe urging harsher drug laws, with a major mention of the evils of weed

EDIT:

here

U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk to push tougher sentences for more-potent marijuana

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2009-06-15/news/0906140267_1_marijuana-sentences-push

U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk will call for legislation Monday that would toughen drug-trafficking laws regarding a highly potent form of marijuana, with penalties of up to 25 years in prison for a first-time offense.

The law would target offenders who sell or distribute marijuana that has a THC content exceeding 15 percent.

… Drug dealers are increasingly cross-breeding plants to produce high-potency variants of marijuana, which are called “kush” in street slang when they have 20 percent THC, Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran said. “When you amplify the strength of it, you are increasing the harm to the system,” said Curran, who supports the legislation, which would amend a federal law. “They are more dangerous behind the wheel of a vehicle. It’s not a good idea to have people that messed up.”

… The Republican North Shore lawmaker said he plans to release more information during a news conference in Chicago on Monday, where he will be joined by representatives from the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group and Waukegan Police Department.

2. Yea, damn it! I live in Ga. I have 2 Pub Senators & a Pub
Rep tpp! Some don't bother to ever answer my emails & those that do never answwer my questions or simply say I'll keep your suggestions in mind. The only positive advantage I have is that Nathan Deak has retired so I'll be getting a new one in Nov. Because of my experience here in Ga, it will probably be another Pub!

31. also in Ga and I'm glad someone finally told Sonny to quit praying for rain.
During our drought the best he had too offer was a prayer meeting, after he checked the weather report.

Didn't occur to him to put out statements on how to conserve water, that would be too much like government trying to control us. Heck if they tell me how often I can flush, it won't be long before they raid my vegetable garden and find my weapons of mass destruction (just in case sarah comes to town for a book signing).

3. Do Blue Dog Representatives count?
I've got Allen Boyd, who votes for Republican causes nearly as often as he votes for Democratic ones. The Democratic candidate running for his seat, Al Lawson, seems to be slightly better than Boyd.

4. I do, and he sucks... I mean really sucks.. He is totally a seat filler.
He doesn't do anything for his constituents... at all. He doesn't even bring home bacon.. AND his reason for not supporting reform was because of Medicare Part D.. something the pukes created and the current plan was helping to fill in the donut hole. He's such an ass.. but his daddy held the seat forever and name recognition got him elected.

8. I have the joy of having Tom Rooney
The biggest do=nothing in Congress. I live in Mark Foley's old area in Florida. It always votes Republican except in 2006. Foley's name was still on the ballot and he still almost won. It is incredible the Repukes around here. I hope he gets voted out only because he's a complete tool!!

10. Yes, I do and earlier in the week...
heard that a progressive was running against Stephanie Herseth Sandlin but this morning I found out that she got leadership in state and possibly in DC to pressure the potential candidate not to file his petitions. I really think that this time I am not going to hold my nose and vote for her. Her vote against HCR, even the pathetic repub lite HCR that went through is the final straw. If the repub candidate is not batshit crazy, I might with hold my vote. I wouldn't vote for the repub but I won't vote for her either.

13. Kevin McCarthy (R) who does not have a seat in Congress but a throne.
Edited on Fri Apr-02-10 06:45 PM by Cleita
Our lame Democrats haven't run anyone against him for the last two terms, so it's like he's a prince, an heir to the throne so to speak. I don't think they are running anyone in November either.

14. Rep in congress, local
Republican; not getting a strong Democrat against him. He's keeps his head down, doesn't call attention to himself, just votes with the Rep. leadership. At least not a right wing religious nut, nor tea-party idiot. More of a traditional business oriented Republican.

26. GA-7 John Linder and Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson
I live in a county that splits two districts, so the other half of the county (GA-8) gets Jim Marshall (Blue Dog/DINO).

I think the whole county loses either way you look at it.

29. Thank you.
It truly pains me that he beat Jim Martin in the runoff in 2008. If we had just gotten a fraction of the attention and money that the Franken race got, we would have had one more truly progressive voice in the Senate. Yeah, I'm a little bitter...

Lee Terry has come through for me on non-political items

1. He got me innaguration tickets. I ended up having to give them back (travel plan change), but I still really appreciated that he came through, when Ben Nelson (who I gave money to) didn't do a thing.

2. I had an issue with Continental Airlines. They tried to seat my then 4yo all by herself. My view - kids under 10, when traveling with one or more parents, must be seated by one or more parents -- period. So, I wrote e-mails expressing this view to Lee Terry (R), then-Senator Chuck Hagel (R), and Ben Nelson (D - sorta). Both Lee Terry and Hagel had aides call me to follow up on my concerns. I got a vaguely worded form-letter response from Nelson months later.

30. Sadly, yes...
Rep. Dave "Third" Reichart (R-obviously), who rode into office on his (dubious) claims to have "caught the Green River killer" as King County Sheriff, and managed to narrowly defeat Darcy Burner twice since then.

:puke:

At least both my Senators are Democrats.
