Teabaggers are white people who fear the outcome of democratic elections.
Edited on Fri Apr-02-10 03:54 PM by Union Yes
Simply put, they're white people who hate democracy and fear it's outcomes.

They're mostly older white people who fear a perception of whites not being in charge.
It's the new white supremacist movement.

Marginalize them for what they are.

White supremacists peddling Fascism.

Edit: Add- if it matters to this debate, I'm a white guy.

25. When I write sharp letters or e-mail to the Right wing,

Because the RW seems to make big deal about the mindset of the founding fathers. I make sure that they know that my
Ancestors (the Thayers,) fought in the American Revolution, and that a Thayer helped found West Point.

I make sure they know my old family founders were some of the most hated-by-slavers and influential Abolitionists in American History.

I tell them I can sense their un-patriotic racism in my DNA.

Actually, when I was little everybody on my Dad's side thought we were Irish.
My Grampa had Shamrocks on his business cards!

We didn't find out about our ancestry until I was 12 and we found a book in the Michigan State capital library.
Then, all the grownups got drunk and laughed at weird ways our forefathers met their ends.lol

2. I think they're mostly unconscious. They may not even be totally aware of how afraid they are
and I doubt they know what exactly it is they're afraid of.

4. I think Teabaggers are White people afraid of becoming
a minority in this country. They're afraid they'll be treated with the same disdain and disrespect as other minorities in this country.

5. They're fearful, all right
My reading is that they're fearful that they will be subject to Luke 6:38: "For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you." And they know damn well that the way they've treated other people for the last few centuries has been pretty reprehensible. Now, they're facing minority status, and it scares the pee-doodle out of them.

8. I understand your point re democratic elections but are there not also concerns that you, I , and
others have about unalienable/inalienable or pre-existing or fundamental rights that protect a minority against the tyranny of a simple majority vote that is meant by your "democratic elections"?

Have you considered such rights that you might cherish that are not of interest to the 50% of the voters + 1 that could through "democratic elections" deny you that right?

President Obama is president of all citizens including those who you address in your OP. He is trying to find common ground with them even though they may dislike him just as much as I and others disliked President George W. Bush.

Here comes the false equivalence again. Did you people get a memo or something?

"Attention all operatives. The fallacy to use this week is False Equivalence. Avoid usage of Straw Man, Appeal to Fear, and Slippery Slope for the period."

That was obvious from the start of their silliness. Scared to death of white people loosing their majority rule (I'm white as well, but a lot of white people just disgust me).

18. remember the spike in gun sales after the election/inauguration
That was racists making that spike.
Stupid people aren't afraid to fight, a lot of them are ready for a civil war, violence is their way of dealing with the way they feel threatened.
A black man being elected is what's sent them over the edge.
I grew up in a very poor county down South.. what I'm saying here I say from my heart.
I'd like to think the decades would change these people but I've gotten some shamefully retarded email forwards from the rednecks I went to highschool with.. people who've never bothered to vote before but now are ready to fight.
