FBI: 'Ruse' was created to arrest Hutaree members
DETROIT, Mich. —

Five members of a radical Christian militia accused of conspiring to kill police officers and wage war against the government were lured to a warehouse to attend a phony memorial service so they would be unarmed when authorities arrested them, Michigan’s chief federal agent said Thursday.

The ruse in Ann Arbor was part of a series of weekend raids in several states that resulted in the indictment of nine people in the alleged plot, officials said.

“We basically set up a scenario where we were able to draw them all to one location,” Andrew Arena, the FBI’s special agent in charge in Detroit, told The Associated Press. “And the reason we did that was to obviously get them away from their weapons.”

Nine suspected members of a group called the Hutaree based in southern Michigan’s Lenawee County were charged this week with seditious conspiracy, or plotting to levy war against the U.S., attempting to use weapons of mass destruction and other crimes.

They planned to make a false 911 call, kill responding police officers and set off a bomb at the funeral to kill many more, according to prosecutors. The FBI said it broke up the plot with the help of an undercover agent and informants.

1. A) Who holds a memorial service in a warehouse? Or were they mourning the death of the
business? and B) What guarantee was there that they would come unarmed?

11. re: B...
Nothing guaranteed it, but it increased the chances that they would come unarmed, would make it harder for them to go for any weapons not in hand if things went sour, and they'd be coming to a location of law enforcement's choosing instead of the other way around. As far as ways of minimizing risks, one could do a lot worse than that setup.

3. "OK everybody, new rules."
"When proclaiming open revolt against the Federal Government, and planning assassination of law enforcement officers, keep it a secret from now on."

"Oh, and ALWAYS carry a weapon, no matter if the invite says 'Firearms Optional'. Thank you, Earl, for that little FYI."

I have little to fear from these rank amateur revolutionaries; they are ignorant, foolish, backwards and totally unable to grasp just how much they are infiltrated by LEO.

Even though this was a 'Family' operation, their weaknesses were exploited.

23. But still functional enough to squeeze a trigger
Back to the original post, though; isn't it astonishing what can be achieved through non-violent means? Attack a bunch of gun-toting yahoos, and expect there to be casualties on both sides. Do we really want law enforcment officers (or anyone, for that matter) to die because of these butt-nuggets? But get a little creative, think of a way to isolate them and separate them from their weapons, and voila! Non-violent apprehension. Good for the FBI.

24. I was very impressed by the professionalism of this. I hope many others
on the extreme right noticed it as well.

It won't be quite as easy as they thought to take over this country.

15. Every now and then our tax collector cooperates with the Sheriff's
office by sending notices of refunds to fugitives. They are told they have to show up in person to collect the refund. Imagine the shock and surprise. LOL

25. Wait until you've seen some evidence -
- before drawing any conclusions.

"Whoever would make his own liberty secure must guard even his most despised countryman from oppression by government, for if he ignores this sacred duty he thus establishes a precedent which someday will surely reach to himself." (Thomas Paine)

Remember Waco?

"Child molesting." (Lies!)

"Weapon stockpiling." (Lies!)

"Possession of machine guns." (Lies)

"Sale of machine guns." (Lies!)

Wait for the evidence -- and be sure it is solid evidence, not claims. If there is solid evidence that these people were in fact planning, not just fantasizing about, randomly killing police and other innocents, then they deserve to be prosecuted. But let's be sure they are domestic terrorists rather than a bunch of low I.Q. yokels who like to play Rambo games.

It is not crazy or criminal to defend the Constitution. It is stupid not to.
