Extremist group demands governors resign, FBI says
April 2, 2010 11:08 a.m. EDT

Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons, at a Tea Party rally last weekend in Searchlight, was among the governors receiving the letters.STORY HIGHLIGHTS

Washington (CNN) -- A domestic extremist group has sent letters to more than 30 U.S. governors demanding they resign, the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI said in an intelligence note.

The note, dated Monday, said the letters told the governors to vacate their posts within three days.

The FBI and DHS said there do not appear to be credible or immediate threats of violence attached to the letters.

The group behind the letters has a "Restore America Plan" that calls for the removal of any governor who fails to comply, the intelligence note said.

While DHS has no information that the removal refers to a specific plan for violence, "law enforcement should be aware that this could be interpreted as a justification for violence or other criminal actions," the note said

5. There's every other reason to conclude that it will get worse before it gets better...
And I am reserving the right to hold as most accountable America's law & military authorities preemptively responsible for any misinterpretation of these heinous threats by mentally unstable people to include the unstable themselves and the people who enable them - this isn't a game, this are very serious matters as I am sure you are aware

2. I thought they might be wanting them to emulate Sarah Palin.
Their new slogan: Resign and Sign (a reality TV deal).

4. These people are nuts
Here's more:

"Other steps in the group's plan include "establishing bogus courts, calling of 'de jure' grand juries, and issuing so-called 'legal orders' to gain control of the state," the note said.

Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Utah, Arkansas, Maine, Colorado, Rhode Island and Nevada are among the states that have received the letters.

Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons received one letter Monday and three more Wednesday, including one by fax, said his chief of staff, Robin Reedy. The group behind the letters does not believe there should be a federal government, Reedy said."

I think by all means, we should exile members of this group to Somalia where there is no federal government.

Really, just whom do they expect to "rise up" and support this bull?

7. This group expects the militias and christofascists and "oathkeepers"
to rise up. This is the big call for action that they hope will overturn the government. This month is gonna be exciting.

13. We should point out
that early in American history, Thomas Jefferson, that boogie man Liberal wanted small central government. Alexander Hamilton, a Federalist (Conservative)wanted a strong one. So if they want more freedom and less government, they should vote for a liberal!!!!!!!!!! :toast:

Except our governor really should resign. However, you don't see a lot of Teabaggers around, they wouldn't dare.

14. Link to article containing the "Mission Statement"
http://www.nevadaappeal.com/article/20100402/NEWS/100409959/1070&ParentProfile=1058

I'm not well versed enough in American legal history/Jurisprudence/Sovereignty to know half of what they are asking for and frankly this time of year (spring planting) I don't have time to research. If there is a smarty here on DU (and I know there is) who understands and can translate into simple terms, we would appreciate the deconstruction.

18. Thanks for the link, just read some of that stuff and it played like gibberish...
As a mere for instance: "- Ending invasions, prosecutions and detentions for fictitious crimes" they are not advocating a 'fictitious crime' they seem too stupid or too chicken-shit to say simply what it is they have in mind. Which makes me think they are at a minimum cognizant of the very real crimes that they are advocating, they're just wrapping them in pseudo-patriotism founded on little more than the fragmented psyche of white pride

16. "Domestic extremists", otherwise known as "terrorists"
But we can't call them that! And it's not just because they're white and the popular media are scared of them, so stop saying that.

From the grocery store to cineplex' to simply submit, shut the fuck up, get back in line and stay there - we'll see if America has the balls to refute such drivel or defend themselves from such oppressive thoughts
