My "Hopey-Changey Thingy" is working!
Dear Republicans-

Thank you for asking how my hopey-changey thingy is going. Since your party left us with impending financial disaster, a 10% unemployment figure, two wars to finance, the burden of giving the uber-rich tax cuts, and a healthcare system that was running rampant, things seem to be looking up! We are on schedule to remove troops from Iraq next year, we have avoided financial collapse (thanks Obama), the tax cuts will soon expire, and we have already reformed the healthcare system! All in just over a year!

So, I would proclaim it's going great!

How's that "Say no to everything" working for ya? Not quite as good as the "hopey-changey thingy", huh? Dadburn the luck! May I suggest your party come up with your own "hopey-changey thingy"? Sitting back and doing nothing hasn't faired well for your party the eight years they were in control. You lost the senate, the house, and the presidency!

Hopey-Changey seems to be a bit better than the "Wishy-Washy Failure Thingy" you laid on us. Good luck, and I hope you take advantage of all those socialistic government programs you hate so much...you know, police protection, fire depts, military, postal services, etc.

Don't worry, Obama's got this!

25. What about corporate taxes?
We need to get those horrible taxes under control lets see...MSN Money states that....
http://moneycentral.msn.com/content/Taxes/P80242.asp

"Most companies paid no taxes during the boom" and "In 2000 alone, 94% of all U.S. corporations paid less than 5% of their total income in corporate taxes, the GAO said in a report released Friday. Among the largest corporations -- the 1% of all corporations that owns 93% of all corporate assets -- 82% paid less than 5% of their income in taxes."

While Caterpillar Corp. is complaining that the new Heath benefits will cost the company $100 million a year while making ONLY $900 million in profits. Senator Bernie Sanders today said on The Thom Hartmann Radio Show that corpotate America is SITTING on $1.5 tillion in CASH assets as we speak!

6. I live in republican hell!
You have to have a blood thumbprint of Ronald Reagan as a stamp of approval to get anything published in our local paper! I have had it out with the editor a couple of times in the past, so I'm sure he just tosses my stuff in the trash.

I don't know why, but they do.

Send it to the nearest city's paper that might publish it.

5. Much higher than 10%
Many of the unemployed don't even report their unemployment, like me, as I am not entitled to benefits. Self-employed or underemployed people make the real figure closer to 20%.
Welcome to DU. Have fun!

28. 15 percent here!
In the county in which I live, the stats just came out today that our unemployment rate has hit 15 percent. As a person who has been trying to find a full time job for a very long time, I can attest to that! And since I am not receiving unemployment, I don't even count in those statistics.

45. Obama's 1st budget didn't go into effect until Oct. 1, 2009
So, what took place before that was mostly the responsibility of Team Bush. Though, the watered-down stimulus package did help prevent unemployment figures from reaching 11/12%

Not productive to converse with someone who advertises their ignorance, or low education level.

49. No one who is a Christian has any business ridiculing hope or the hope for change.
I find Palin's remark to be hypocritical. Whether one is Fundamentalist, authoritarian or liberal Christian, that religion is founded on hope for the future and the expectation of what believers consider positive change. This is just another example of R.s cynically using the misfortune of others to raise money for their party.

Let's see, what has that hopey-changy thing done for us?

Ended the chance of a 1930's type depression. Paved roads, built bridges and funded many worthy projects.

Ended America's status as a pariah state.

Significantly extended health insurance.

Significantly reduced the threat of being vaporized by Russian nukes.

Imposed fuel efficiency standards as a step to fight global warming.

Reduced most people's taxes.

Sotomayor

Ended the active war in Iraq

Stopped breaking Federal and international law by torturing people.
