I think what is really at work here is an aristocratic societal view similar to the middle ages. I live in the south and I think the thinking is that we should bow to the "King" or the aristocrats because of their goodness they will give us jobs. Think of the rhetoric - give tax cuts to the wealthy and they will invest and give us jobs. In reality it's just the opposite. The rich will hoard money and if the dirty masses create a need then they will consider investing. Needs come from the masses and that need is how we create markets.

1. You are right....
It is exactly the opposite of what the conservatives say. Look at the great economy George W Bush created with his trillion dollar taxcuts.
