Check out this Nazi argument against universal health care...
This is a propaganda poster for Nazi Germany's T-4 Euthanasia Program:

"This person suffering from hereditary defects costs the community
60,000 Reichsmark during his lifetime. Fellow German, that is your money, too."

1. Of course, what they fail to point out:
That a so-called handicapped person may still have gifts and attributes that may help his or her country...

Handicapped people are not necessarily congenital idiots.

9. The unlikely event of a Hawking is not a reason to not kill "retards".
Edited on Fri Apr-02-10 06:38 AM by TheMadMonk
In purely ecconomic terms, I doubt that the contribution of him and his ilk would come within spitting distance of covering the "cost to society" of the far more numerous "non-productive" people.

The reason you don't kill/neuter retards is basic humanity. EOM

13. Well I disagree.
I believe that there is both an economic and humanitarian reason.

The contributions that Hawkins made to scientific community are priceless. That level of theoretical physics is not a commoditized product. Had he not existed that knowledge wouldn't just have been found by someone else.

While most of his knowledge is just theoretical science someday given long enough timeframe (thousands of years) mankind may develop practical applications for that knowledge (power sources from artificial singularities).

5. The Third Reich co-opted many of its eugenics principles from the United States.
Contemporaneous with the Third Reich it was legal in many states for citizens to be declared "feeble-minded" and on that basis, sterilized against their will or knowledge in some cases. One of the largest warehouses for such surgery was in Lynchburg, Virginia. While this country didn't execute like Germany, the existing policies emboldened the Nazis.

12. What does universal health care have to do with eugenics?
WE have universal health care here in Canada. And so do ALL of the other industrialized countries.

But NONE of us practice eugenics. Most liberal democracies are repulsed by eugenics.

If anything, the private insurance companies are the ones who are closest to practising a sort of "economic eugenics" by denying the poor and the sick treatment.

14. They seem to be using the same arguements not have it. Do you want to pay for the handicapped?
:sarcasm:

Are how about some fat ass with diabetes? Which is exactly what Dick Armey said.

The arguments against health care seem a lot like the message in that poster.
