SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
Meg Whitman is taking her campaign for governor beyond TV ads and radio airwaves. She's trying to get her message out through local libraries but she's hitting a snag.
The gubernatorial candidate wants her 48-page policy booklet in some 1400 libraries statewide.
But the Sacramento Public Library won't be posting the publication because they says its against policy.
"I was surprised because its campaign materials so that's something, we our policy, fortunately or unfortunately precludes us from displaying campaign materials in a library," said Gary Shaffer from Sacramento Public Libraries.
Meanwhile, the California State Library general counsel said Wednesday that libraries can display Whitman's booklet.
But because the state library has no jurisdiction over individual libraries, it will be up to each branch to decide.
