Obama's inconsistency on student loans and health insurance reform
Edited on Thu Apr-01-10 05:29 PM by krkaufman
One more from the irony file....

Regarding Pres. Obama's statement on signing the student loan reforms...

Remarks by the President and Dr. Jill Biden at Signing of Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act

"You see, for almost two decades, we’ve been trying to fix a sweetheart deal in federal law that essentially gave billions of dollars to banks to act as unnecessary middlemen in administering student loans. So those are billions of dollars that could have been spent helping more of our students attend and complete college; that could have been spent advancing the dreams of our children; that could have been spent easing the burden of tuition on middle-class families. Instead, that money was spent padding student lenders’ profits."

How is this statement not directly applicable to the health insurance side of the very legislation he was signing? Why did he then not just extend but EXPAND the role of unnecessary health insurance middlemen?

Here's hoping it's not "almost two decades" before we correct the mistake.

2. Fascinating
Some future prez can use that same statement, with a few fixes, about healthcare

You see, for almost two decades, we’ve been trying to fix a sweetheart deal in federal law that essentially gave billions of dollars to insurers to act as unnecessary middlemen in administering healthcare. So those are billions of dollars that could have been spent helping more of our citizens get medical care;

8. Why did Obama ...
... expand the role of unnecessary health insurance middlemen? Because they'll kick back money to his and congress's campaigns. Because he apparently forgot what his mother went through battling insurance companies when she had cancer. Because he and congress don't care about Americans and have no desire to protect our most precious resource: American citizens. Because they're DINOs.
