Wrong number: GOP pitch lists phone-sex hotline

Thursday, April 1, 2010

(04-01) 09:32 PDT WASHINGTON, (AP) --

The best thing the Republican Party can say about this week is, it's nearly over.

First came news that the Republican National Committee paid $1,946 for a gathering at a sex-themed Hollywood club, which a group of young Republicans had visited without RNC approval. The money is to be paid back.

Now it turns out the RNC inadvertently listed a phone-sex number on a fundraising letter sent to potential donors. People who tried to call the committee were instead offered "live, one-on-one talk with a nasty girl" for $2.99 a minute.

RNC spokesman Doug Heye said a typographical error caused the letter to contain a toll-free 800 number rather than Washington's 202 area code. He confirmed details of the letter, first reported by the Politico news Web site.

#1 response so far at SFGate...

For $3.99/minute the "girl" will include lots of "you betcha"s! Well worth the upcharge.

1. Merry mix-up aside
people are supposed to trust the GOOPers with running the government if they can't even be trusted to perform rudimentary tasks like listing a phone number in a letter or basic proofreading? I think NOT!

2. I think they should just adopt it as their official policy
I mean, few people want to donate to the RNC any more. But some live nasty talk, now that's real value - no waiting around until after the election to see if you'll get satisfied, instead you get instant gratification for your money. If the nasty girl keeps $1, the phone company keeps $1, and the other dollar goes to the RNC, everybody wins. A dollar's a dollar, no matter where you find it!

3. What an awesome way to distract from the strip-club fundraising scandal!
1)Aim gun at foot

2)Pull trigger

4. They are just trying to cut out the middle man
I haven't seen one this good since the Girl Scouts figured out their toll free number spelled out 1800-BAD-GIRL, canceled the line, and a phone sex operation picked it up.
