Schools, teacher sued by parent

BRADENTON — A Bradenton mother is suing the Manatee County School Board and a physical education teacher she says failed to supervise a class where her daughter was intentionally injured by another student.

Plaintiff Rica Ben-Shushan claims her daughter was purposely tripped by another student during gym class April 23, 2008, at Sugg Middle School, according to a 10-page lawsuit filed this week in Bradenton.

Teacher Vicky McDaniel was not paying attention to her students as the woman’s daughter, age 12 at the time, ran around the tennis courts alongside her classmates, according to the suit.

A classmate tripped the girl, she fell to the ground, the suit alleges, and injured her nose and her face, and chipped her front tooth.

7. No kidding.
Not sure when you were in high school, but as for myself, I graduated in '82. I recall two gym teachers who seemed to enjoy being sadists and pitting students against one another.

I recall a buddy of mine getting kicked square in the nuts and the teacher telling him to "walk it off" while he was rolling around on the ground in pain.

And god help any of us who wanted to go help him, we would be labeled a f*gs.

The locker room was like being in a prison cell block with cage matches.

Oh and heaven forbid if you forgot to wear a supporter! That was some really bizarro shit there. I don't even want to go into that.

3. Maybe she should home-school her daughter
and raise her in a pen like she's raising veal. I suppose I'd be a millionaire if I had sued the schools every time I got hurt there.

5. I can understand suing the individual responsible
but not the school.

Of course, the plantiff in this case knows who she'll get more money from, if she wins...
