Huge crowd of teabaggers protests against health care in KS
Edited on Thu Apr-01-10 06:45 AM by proud2BlibKansan
Last night the county Democrats held a reception to thank our congressman (Dennis Moore KS 3rd) for his vote on HCR.

When I pulled in the parking lot, first thing I saw were teabaggers standing on the sidewalk. I found out later that a local wingnut radio station had been telling its listeners all day to come and tell the congressman HCR is socialism.

BTW, this is the same station that is airing an ad from a white supremacist running for US Senate.

They did a great job of bringing out the crowd!

As you can see there are at least 9,000,000 of them.

When I went into the restaurant, I was disappointed to see the teabaggers had outnumbered the Democrats.

And the Democrats were obviously not having a good time.

So I went outside to see how the teabaggers were doing.

They were so nice! They invited my friends and me to join them and said they had extra signs. I was wearing my MEDICARE FOR ALL t-shirt so I said I didn't need a sign. Well the same nice man who had invited us to join them started yelling about who was going to pay for my Medicare and said some other really mean things. It was hard to hear him over the huge crowd of teabaggers he was with. So we decided to go back inside to see if the party had livened up any. And we saw this woman arrive. She asked us what the protest was about and we said the teabaggers were opposed to health care. She got back in her car and left. That was too bad because it had obviously taken her a long time to find a parking place.

11. Mission isn't so bad
NE Johnson County isn't near as red as the southern part of the county.

8. They are going to be here on April 15 - that same bus that was in Nevada last weekend.
No word on which famous teabaggers will be with them.

4. You Can Only Stay Pissed For So Long...
Methinks we've seen the worst of the teabagger "woodstocks" out there. As some of us who were alive, alert and protesting back in the 70s...when we had hundreds of thousands at moritorium marches, after a while the lack of progress on many social issues and the beltway's tin ear led to the movement losing momentum and then the reason to be. The teabaggers are starting to learn that democracy isn't decided by those who shout the loudest and their protests have done little to stop this administration from pushing through healthcare. The option now is three-fold. Some will move within the rushpublican party (where they came from) and continue to live in the hate radio bubble world in perpetual poutrage, others will get disenchanted and either drop out of the political world or gravitate to a third party (I still see one ripping the GOOP apart in years to come...their monster will come back to destroy them) and there will be a small but violent minority who will decide to take matters into their own hands...discrediting the teabaggers once and for all.

5. You're very brave to have fought your way past that HUGE crowd.
Edited on Thu Apr-01-10 07:05 AM by Altoid_Cyclist
:sarcasm:

Although their numbers were few, many stupid, hateful and possibly racist ideas were probably voiced by all of them.

Thank you and thank Rep. Moore for standing up for the civilized people who realize that a few baggers won't be allowed to control the agenda anymore. My Rep. (short for reprehensible) is Bill Shuster and he is as vile and corrupt as they come so it's a little depressing always hearing his version of things on the local news.

7. There were NINE of them; we were ROFLOBO
There were more of us at the party who had been regulars at the HCR rallies all summer.

But you know that radio station will be on the air today talking about the huge crowd. When I first got there, the station had a reporter there and he was interviewing the teabaggers. But by the time I went out to take pictures, he was gone.

9. That pretty much nails the problem.
A radio station doesn't have to verify things with pictures. Those nine people will probably turn into "hundreds of Americans upset with Obamacare" flooded the streets last night to voice their anger at how this country is being taken over by GASP!! socialists.

Long live the "Liberal Media".

16. Come on now
you know they have to air it. Hell, even Johnny Dare and Coogan had to play it.

Glad the dinner was a success, I wanted to buzz over but couldn't get the time.

20. Yea
and Dare just got done talking about again so it is sounding like it may end up being the whole building.

Speculation by both sides is wild, but 980 seems to be the earliest at running political ads so they were hit first. This guy has no chance in winning or even being a factor in the election, so I wouldn't doubt one bit if he is just trying to get some kind of reason for a lawsuit, free publicity and money.

21. You have to admit he has an audience at that station
They get nuttier all the time. I tune them in once in awhile to get local news. On one day I heard them call Oprah a pig and Obama a Muslim.

24. There is no doubt
it is a right side of the aisle radio station, but I don't agree he has a significant audience on there because I don't believe the majority of Republicans or conservatives believe as he does.

26. I spent the summer at HCR rallies across the street from them
Darla was a frequent guest. Shanin and Parks promoted their rallies. They had racial signs, signs attacking the president and lots of signs that had nothing to do with health care.

980 is into it up to their eyeballs. I do believe a majority of their listeners are sympathetic to the racism at these rallies.

27. Yes, they are a 'righty' station
but I know too many good people with differing views and could never lump everybody into a neat little box because of the actions of a few.

15. These folks' time would have been far better spent doing something
else. Just about anything else, in fact.

There are barely enough of them for a decent poker game. Can you have a mass movement with single-digit crowds?

It's kind of hard to even sense that the Tea Baggers movement is anything near a movement, since it seems to involve so few people. It doesn't seem to have a discernible purpose other than to provide a series of temporary platforms for uninformed dolts to express their anger.

And in some cases, their bigoted anger.

Description on the news was "large" crowd at the Capitol. Turns out there were about 400.

Of course, now they're flooding the 9News comments with how many THOUSANDS were there.

BS.
