Don't the militia people realize the government has nuclear weapons
Edited on Wed Mar-31-10 09:24 PM by Tony_FLADEM
They are going to protest and brandish their guns in the process. In the very hypothetical event the government turned on it's people, what would their guns do for them.

I'm not saying there should be more gun control they just seem delusional.

6. I'm not talking about international terror organizations
I'm referring to all these right wing militias that always pop up when Democrats are in power.

4. Nuclear would never come into play. A predator drone, however, likely would.

7. Not just nukes
Local, county and state police departments have access to more fire power than militias. A single conventional bomb from an Air Force bomber would be enough to take out a militia camp.

Change normally comes about in most countries due to the ballot and public protests, not outrage. We have seen the Orange Revolution, the Velvet Revolution, and the Cedar Revolution. From Lebanon to the Ukraine, it was public pressure that changed governments. Violence is often counter productive, particularly when one side has overwhelming force on its side.

So, I urge the militia members who might think of challenging the government by force to reconsider, and debate the issues. It would be more effective and we can try to see if there is any common ground as Americans and as human beings.

10. why would a government nuke it's own land? That's asinine.
Edited on Wed Mar-31-10 10:02 PM by OneTenthofOnePercent
If you want to defeat a grassroots insurrection, you have to have boots on the ground. Door to door... street to street.
Heck, look at afghanistan - the best military in the world, short of leveling cities, can't seem to beat a few insurgents.

I doubt the government would significantly destroy alot of its infrastructure, much less detonate a nuke against internal targets.

13. Beating groups like this will be easy
The best weapon is their neighbors who won't tolerate this crap. Some of the reports were suggesting it was another militia that was ratting them out.

21. Berlin Wall protesters were well aware the USSR had nuclear weapons
I obviously do not support the tea-bag revolution in any form, but the idea of a popular insurrection is that the people will support it once it gets rolling.

The government ALWAYS has the people outgunned until the military and police switch sides. That is how revolutions are usually won.

And that is why only a very *popular* popular uprising can succeed, and why the idea is idiotic in a democracy.

If teabaggery were so popular that it could succeed in a revolution it would be popular enough to simply take over congress in elections. We have 'em every two years.
