political blog entry of the year---- "and post on freerepublic.com "
Edited on Mon Mar-29-10 05:38 PM by underpants
One of my best friends sent me this today:
-----
Below is what would be my nomination for political blog entry of the year:

This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the US Department of Energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by the municipal water utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC regulated channels to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like using satellites designed, built, and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. I watched this while eating breakfast of US Department of Agriculture inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the Food and Drug Administration.

At the appropriate time as regulated by the US Congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the US Naval Observatory. I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration approved automobile and set out to work on the roads built by the local, state, and federal departments of transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve bank. On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to send via the US Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public school.

After work, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to a house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and fire marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all it's valuables thanks to the local police department.

I then log on to the internet which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration and post on freerepublic.com and Fox News forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything right.

23. And, meanwhile, in the "Teabagger's Utopia"...
This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock, occassionally powered by electricity generated by the PRIVATE power monopoly - completely unregulated by the evil guvmint. My rates have gone up 25X in the last year and my service is on par with that of post-invasion Baghdad, but golly you can't beat the freedom light package option that allows me to buy enough juice to run the fridge ALL day again, of course after paying that bill I can only afford to eat the dead rats from the fields, but with enough Catsup they taste as good as any hot dog alright!

I then took a shower in the heavy-metal and toxic chemical contaminated water provided by the PRIVATE water monopoly. My skin is breaking out in a weird orange-red rash, but hey, on the bright side, it is now believable when I photoshop myself into pictures with St. John the Boehner! And their customer abuse representative promised that they would send the next available technician out to address the rotten-egg like stench of the water within the next 6 months!

After that, I turned on the TV to one of the 17 Fox-approved and operated channels still on the air, to see what Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity had determined the weather was going to be like using chicken bones, a diving rod, sarcasm, expert guests like Dick Morris and G. Gordon Liddy and some really cool chalkboard diagrams with arrows, circles and socialists. The last of those fancy-shmancy weather-satelumlits launched by the evil communist-fascist Nazi Air and Spice Administers had burned up in the skies a few years ago and we can't seem to get a corporation to launch any new ones because of the negative impact on quarterly earnings that a space launch causes.

I watched this while eating breakfast of E. Coli-laden food and taking the unregulated, privately approved drugs which have been determined as safe as breathing the toxic fumes from my local arm of the power monopoly's newest Sarah Palin Drill Baby Drill LTD energy locator equipment. Because you know, that really fine Lauren Hutton tells me that we have all the energy we need right here in America, and once we got those damn liberals out of the way - with their whining about the environment and their global warming hoax and their 'facts' and their 'science' were no longer taught in schools - well, things are looking good for the new morning in America...

At the appropriate time as regulated by the corporate timecard that sounds like a klaxon horn every 8 hours, I get into my Toyota corporate safety approved automobile and set out to work on the roads owned by the PRIVATE transportation corporation; possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by Ms. Palin's former BFF and national energy czar - er, I mean energy god-faring Chirstian, using legal tender issued by the Goldman Sachs Reserve bank. On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to send via the New Pony Express and drop the kids off at the unsupervised field behind that formerly public school. While roaming the area scavenging for food, they will be preached to by volunteers from the faith-based education initiative that President Palin mandated when she outlawed secular public education and closed all research facilities in the country that would sign a pledge to "teach the controversy" and "let the children make up their own minds".

After work, I drive my unregulated and much more competitive car back home on the PRIVATE toll roads - which only cost $700 a month or $15 per mile to use, to a house which has burned down in my absence because the local building code was rewritten on a strip-club bar napkin to state that all buyers are responsible for the externalities of their home builder; well, that and the fire marshal's cousin never did an inspection in the first place because it was liberal huntin' season after all. It was not a total loss for everyone, the house had been plundered of all it's valuables before the flames got too intense thanks to the looters that the PRIVATE fire department and police would not stop because I had a contract with a different fire protection corporation that offered better rates in their funny TV commercials with the talking salamander with the crazy foreign accent and the big word vocbulary.

I can no longer log on to the internet, which was shut down by News Corp, and the people who used to post on freerepublic.com and Fox News forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine have all died of pre-existing conditions, which was actually that whole stupid poetic justice thing I guess...

43. getting close to Nazi Germany
The closest time in American history that we came to full blown Nazism is the years from January 20, 2001 to January 20, 2009.

IF America didn't go Nazi then, it's safe to say we dodged that bullet until the next Republican President.

46. fascism
What has both my wife and I worried is the recent Supreme Court decision allowing unlimited campaign contributions from corporations.

If you really really really want corporations to take over the state entirely and as much as possible, the Supremes have just fashioned a way to do it.

I fear for our Country with these upcoming 2010 elections! The magnitude of this decision is just so enormous, I just don't know how we the people are going to get any representation by our elected leaders with this monstrosity of an activist court decision?

30. Awesome indeed!
Except NASA didn't "designed, built, and launch" the satellites.
Most of them are designed and built by private contractors to the specs requested by NASA.
Launched by a private contractor (ULA), who handles most of NASA's launches, except for the shuttle - that's handled by another private contractor (USA).

And the roads - construction is usually supervised and determined by DOT, but most states hire private contractors to do most of the construction work.

Just saying.

42. Let's take a look at those regulators
How effective was the US DOE at keeping us save from Enron?

Besides suing over rogue tities, what is left of FCC regulations. They don't enforce broadcasting rules requiring a station to stick to it's allocated frequency. Clinton signed the end of the ownership rules, and there's no fairness doctrine.

You must be joking about USDA inspections, there aren't any, the processors provide their own inspections

The FDA has been allowing Pharmaceutical corporations to short circuit the approval process and several deadly drugs have been brought to market during the last decade.

NHTSA did what exactly?

DOT - the nation's highway infrastructure is in serious decay. Minnesota lost a few folks when a bridge collapsed there. The list of unmaintained bridges and roadways reaching a critical state only grows.

The US Congress regulates time?

Your house had a fire marshal inspection?

Anybody ever have the police guard against a burglary? Or have a property crime actually investigated?

Better to focus on the specifics of VA and Medicare programs which really are superior to the public sectors approach.

Regulators do not work any longer because they are all co-opted by the businesses they regulate who pressure the Congress they own to be less vigilant in protecting the People who they fleece. And that is why Obamacare will also not work.

Take GOES for instance. It was built by BOEING for NOAA. It was launch by ULA on the USAF launch pad with oversight by NASA. The space industry has always been a mixture of commercial and government working together.
