REAL WORLD'S PUCK EXPLAINS CAR CRASH NIGHTMARE

http://www.nationalenquirer.com/real_world_puck_neck_car_crash/celebrity/68386

The Real World bad boy "Puck" broke his neck and nearly died when his car plunged down a 40-foot ravine.

The former MTV reality star says he survived thanks to his 8-year-old son Bogart, who was gravely injured in the recent crash, but managed to get help.

“I broke my neck in three places, and if I try to move, I could be paralyzed for life. The only reason I am alive is that my son saved me,” he told The ENQUIRER.

David “Puck” Rainey, 41, became one of the most notorious “Real World” house guests in the show’s history in 1994 when he was evicted for harassing a gay roommate who was dying from AIDS.

The former bike messenger, who’s now an actor, was driving from his San Fernando Valley home to Lake Cuyamaca near San Diego, Calif., for a fishing trip with Bogart on March 19 when the accident happened.

“I drank two shots of Jack Daniels in the car,” he admitted, “but I also ate a sandwich. I was doing about 40 when a deer jumped out in front of me.”

While trying to avoid the deer, his tiny 1988 Ford Festiva ran off the road and rolled over four times as it bounced down a 40-foot ravine.

“My seat belt broke, and I was being flung around in the car,” Puck recalled. “I ended up trapped, upside down, in water. I didn’t know it then, but I had a broken neck. I’d also broken my clavicle, my sternum and both feet.”

Bogart managed to roll down his window, get out of the car, climb up the embankment and stop a passing car. He was rushed to a San Diego hospital and treated for a lacerated liver, bruised kidney and internal bleeding.

Puck, who has battled alcoholism for years, said he was arrested at the hospital and charged with child endangerment.

if those shots were standard sized, they most likely did not place puck above the legal limit for DUI.

i say that as a court certified expert witness in DUI detection. (the voir dire was exhaustive)

it's still illegal, reckless and stupid, though

otoh, nearly every dui i arrest (seems like about 80%) claims "two" drinks or beers

it's a cliche.

i arrested a .35 who said "two beers". i was like, "were the containers big metal things with pumps on top?"

he didn't get it

Wherein "shot" = Long pulls straight from the bottle.

13. Nurses always double any admitted alcohol intake
and if it's a known problem drinker, we triple it.

It's the best way to gauge which ones will go into DTs on us.

Now we all know that guy didn't have a shot glass with him. I hope they did a serum alcohol on him.

21. Recovering alcoholics are great sources of information
and most nurses who know what they're doing have picked their brains on occasion.

My favorite site was given to me by a friend in recovery: http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/secular-connections/129489-bottles-how-hide-them.html

I used to find my ex's bottles all over the place and I'd just put them out on the counter with all the others he was working on. I figured he was hiding from himself and I wasn't going to help him do that.

Sorry, but "recovering alcoholics" that "teach DUI classes" are a pain in the ass.

Has he "experienced" everybody's lives? I don't think so.

And DUI classes are ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. They are an absolute joke for everyone that attends. Trust me, I know, from EXPERIENCE.

Everyone that gets a DUI is not a drunk, yet these "DUI class teachers" automatically go there.

May I repeat....IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!

47. It's not what I believe that is important.
It's what these so-called ex-alcoholic, DUI class teachers believe that is important and what they spew to their "students" that are forced to attend these whine sessions.

Sorry, but I've been on both sides of DUIs....taught classes to juvies and attended a few for myself.

It's a waste of time.

If someone doesn't want to stop drinking, no class or lecture is going to help them to stop.

The taking shots while driving with his son? Or still driving a 1988 Ford Festiva? Or doing both while eating a sandwich?

Doesn't Darwin Awards usually go only to those who die from their own stupidity, or is serious injury OK too?

42. The Seat Belt Broke At 40MPH?
Seems hard to believe. Seatbelts are designed to withstand WAY more force than that of a guy that size at 40mph. Even if careening down a ravine, and bouncing off trees, the G forces shouldn't be enough to break a seatbelt.

My bet is he was going WAY faster than 40.
