I visit Rosie O'Donnell's blog almost every day, I enjoy her. I am always amazed at the nasty, sometimes violent reaction she brings out in some people. But I want to pass this on, Rosie printed it on the home page of her blog, it was sent to her. I'm sending it as a reply to every anti-Obama email I get. It's civil and just a little frightening to see in print.

....................

You didn't get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.

You didn't get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate
energy policy.

You didn't get mad when a covert CIA operative got outed.

You didn't get mad when the Patriot Act got passed.

You didn't get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.

You didn't get mad when we spent over 600 billion(and counting) on said illegal war.

You didn't get mad when over 10 billion dollars just disappeared in Iraq.

You didn't get mad when you found out we were torturing people.

You didn't get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.

You didn't get mad when we didn't catch Bin Laden.

You didn't get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.

You didn't get mad when we let a major US city, New Orleans, drown.

You didn't get mad when we gave a 900 billion tax break to the rich.

You didn't get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark.

You finally got mad when the government decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, are all okay with you, but helping other Americans...oh hell no.

UPDATEs:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x7662955

I am not writing this to call out proud2blibkansas as I know he/she didn't know about this. And normally I wouldn't mind this kind of thing but this was a special thread for me, it had over 500 recs and I was contacted by Skinner because someone wanted my permission to use it in a book. I gave permission as long as I was credited. Well it seems someone has changed a few words around and "made it their own".

You can see the thread p2b posted here:

14. I changed it up a bit.
There are many more points we could add to this, so add your own. Some of the figures might be a bit off. Example: I've heard numbers of 20,000 to 40,000 who lose their life each year because they lack health insurance.

After The 8 Years Of The Bush/Cheney Disaster, Now You Get Mad?

You didn't get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.

You didn't get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate
Energy policy and push us to invade Iraq.

You didn't get mad when a covert CIA operative got outed.

You didn't get mad when the Patriot Act got passed.

You didn't get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.

You didn't get mad when we spent over 800 billion (and counting) on said illegal war.

You didn’t get mad when Bush borrowed more money from foreign sources than the previous 42 Presidents combined.

You didn't get mad when over 10 billion dollars in cash just disappeared in Iraq.

You didn't get mad when you found out we were torturing people.

You didn’t get mad when Bush embraced trade and outsourcing policies that shipped 6 million American jobs out of the country.

You didn't get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.

You didn't get mad when we didn't catch Bin Laden.

You didn’t get mad when Bush rang up 10 trillion dollars in combined budget and current account deficits.

You didn't get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.

You didn't get mad when we let a major US city, New Orleans, drown.

You didn't get mad when we gave people who had more money than they could spend, the filthy rich, over a trillion dollars in tax breaks.

You didn’t get mad with the worst 8 years of job creations in several decades.

You didn’t get mad when over 200,000 US Citizens lost their lives because they had no health insurance.

You didn’t get mad when lack of oversight and regulations from the Bush Administration caused US Citizens to lose 12 trillion dollars in investments, retirement, and home values.

You finally got mad when a black man was elected President and decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, job losses by the millions, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, and the worst economic disaster since 1929 are all okay with you, but helping fellow Americans who are sick...oh hell no.

You didn't get mad when Bush failed to heed warnings "Bin Laden determined to strike at U.S." which led to the death of almost 3000 Americans.

Edited on Mon Mar-29-10 04:00 PM by Liberal_Stalwart71
That's what this is all about. They didn't like McCain, either. But a Democrat who is a black man. That's just too much for them to bear.

...and the Blue Dogs who are hollering, standing up with Republicans, talking that shit about deficits. None of them said anything when Bush ran up the deficits. None of them said a word when the Republicans wouldn't play fair and seek bipartisanship. None of them uttered a word when the Republicans went rouge, exploiting the rules, blocking legislation, spending out of hand, cutting off microphones, stopping debate. They didn't say a word.

Now, all of the sudden, they are holding Obama accountable for deficit spending and taxes, etc?

They need to get out of here with that bullshit.

I blame the conservative, corporatists in the Democratic Party as much, even moreso, than I blame Repukes. They disgust me. A bunch of lilly-livered cowards!!

47. It is a post you can and should be proud of ....
I hope you get your credit. You deserve it.

Thing is, all those things you list did make me mad at the time they were happening. I wrote letters and emails, my husband and I bought server space with money we didn't have and ran a peace blog, we held vigils with other Quakers in our area, we talked to people and answered their questions. But there was not much more that I could do as an individual, and those of us who spoke out were ignored or threatened by the Bush administration eventually. I continued to speak out anyway.

I am still mad. Not because health insurance reform was passed, but because no meaningful health care insurance was provided. And every time I say so or point out something else about this current administration that I disagree with or which offends me I am told not to speak up, only not usually so politely. I don't care too much about that. If I had a thin skin I wouldn't be here and I wouldn't continue to speak up as I am going to continue doing.

But I don't think people need permission to get upset if they feel they are being wronged. Not violently or Tea Bagger upset; that is way beyond the pale. They do deserve a chance to discuss what is wrong in this country and what the government could or should be doing to address it. Simply address it. I have long passed the point where I think this administration is actually going to take any actions which will fix what is happening. You can get upset at both sides; the Republicans who put us here and Obama who seems to be leaving us here. There is no way to go back and change what Bush did. I tried the whole time he was in office, until I was blue in the face. Now I am trying again in the present with a different president, but I think I already see a slightly bluish tinge when I look in the mirror. Sometimes the more things change the more they stay the same.

Don't mind my spleen about life, though. It is still a great post.
