Rupert Murdoch
I have heard there was an offer to buy out the Dow Jones. It is my understanding from Wikipedia, that the Dow Jones owns GE, which owns MSNBC. Do you think this is likely to happen? What do you think would happen with Olbermann? The rest of them seem to pretty much read from a blastfax. Will our citizens be dumb enough to fall for something a bunch of Fox Newses (sp?) again?

2. I heard earlier that the offer has been declined.
The stock took a sharp plunge. Contrary to what the item below says, it was before 4 p.m. as I watched the stock dive.

5/1/07, "Murdoch Makes a Play for Dow Jones"). Dow Jones said in a statement around 4 p.m. ET that a slight majority of the voting power are opposed to News Corp.'s offer.

4. Dow Jones & Company has nothing to do with General Electric
perhaps you were confused by this:

In 1896, General Electric was one of the original 12 companies listed on the newly-formed Dow Jones Industrial Average and still remains after 110 years (it is the only one of the original companies remaining on the Dow).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Electric

GE is just one of the stock prices that make up the Dow Jones index, that's all. Even if Murdoch did manage to take over Dow Jones, it would have no effect on MSNBC.
