Steve and Cokie Roberts: " Beck worse than a clown". (Link to their editorial)
"Actually, Beck is worse than a clown. He's more like a terrorist who believes he has discovered the One True Faith, and condemns everyone else as a heretic. And that makes him something else as well - a traitor to the American values he professes so loudly to defend."

1. Chickenhawk Beck is a classic hate-and-fear-driven demagogue
Edited on Sun Mar-21-10 09:26 AM by SpiralHawk
and he -- who has never served his country for even five minutes -- is vociferously & twistedly against everything that makes America good.

Why do the republicons embrace this chickenhawk little shit, the same way they have embraced the drug addicted draft dodger Rush Limbaugh? Ya gotta wonder.

History offers a long list of similar little men and reports on the evil they spawned.

4. I can agree with that
However, although Beck certainly comes from a long line of similar wingnuttery, he has raised demagoguery to a true art form judging from the size of the audience he attracts. Even the portly drug addict couldn't build his empire on demagoguery alone.

8. Why? Because he says the things they can't
they have to have some decorum for whatever way they have of obtaining money.

6. Beck doesn't BELEIVE anything except that he's getting money and attention.
Edited on Sun Mar-21-10 09:37 AM by nolabear
Glenn Beck is every bit as real as Pee Wee Herman, and a lot less coherent and honest.

Come to think of it, there's a debate I'd like to see!

Edited for typo.

7. People like Cokie are responsible for Beck.
Instead of calling him out when he 1st started his BS. They stand on the sideline cheering him on because it helps their political party. Only when he becomes such a laughing stock that Comedy Central makes fun of him, do enablers like Cokie dare to call him out.

10. This is an excellent point.
If the Republican party had true leaders with morals they would call out these clowns on a regular basis. The reality is they are afraid of them as well as the voters who call their shows and spew their own twisted garbage.

9. Sneakie Blobbers and her hubby now denouce the puppet they propped up
how sad is that?

Only when some/thing/one threatens their empire do they speak up - they don't care when some/thing/one threatens or destroys the country - banksters and bush come to mind.

12. Traitor is the kindest of adjectives to be hurled at Beck!
Edited on Sun Mar-21-10 10:13 AM by randr
While the far right continues to come up with the usual epithets branding the left, there no word to describe the world they have created or the one they would lead us to.
We just don't have a work evil enough to describe them!

13. As a recovering drug & alcohol abuser Beck *is* worse than a clown he's a convert...
In my experience there can be few more emotionally draining at a party than an abuser of life that has 'seen the light' and is now the only convert in the room that ever truly believed in the redemption of a paycheck. One so baseless, they're only able to justify their actions upon the same kinds of immediate personal gratifications that junkies continue to jones for in guttersnipe alleys round the world. Beck is his same ole addictions in his same ole booze bottles and fat bags with different labels on them

My husband has a line, "Its blue dot time" he's referring to a kind of line-up process where you can put a blue dot in front of every face and the residue of their shared behaviors is still known for what they are

18. I used to admire Cokie.
Then Katrina came along and she prattled on about how NOLA would recover just fine. Afterall, she said, her mother had a house near Bourbon St. and the French Quarter and her mother was just fine after the storm. Therefore, her logic concluded, New Orleans would be fine and recover just swell. I thought then, "my god, what an elitist-rich-girl-snob."

She has been on my shit list ever since.

20. Good article - "he is corrupting the very essence of democracy"
From the article -
"Beck has made millions spewing such incendiary language, but in the process he is corrupting the very essence of democracy. Our system can only flourish if citizens with varying viewpoints accept the outcome of elections and respect the rule of the majority."
