Help stop "Drive Through Mastectomies"...
Please take a few minutes to read this article, and sign the petition that will force insurance companies to allow a DOCTOR to dictate at least a 48 hour recuperation period in the hospital after mastectomies...

If you've already signed it, thank you for your support.

Lobby FORGETS..

Most people do NOT have insurance.
A 48 hour stay in the hospital is enough to destroy a working persons budget for years maybe decades. It can get their ass in debt fast and it may take them years to get out.Bush has been to kind to predatory lenders preying on desperate people.

Anyway I had a male chest reconstruction , that is basically a double mastectomy with a slight alteration in the procedure to make my chest male appearing.

I was in the operation out the same day.I have had a few complications, my drain fell out.Not much pain at all(surprised me).I have seen the doctor when I needed to she was there on call to answer me even about my stupid questions that I was going Duh'oh when she gave me the answer.

The thing that gets me upset about petitions like this is poor women and women who can't afford a whopping hospital bill will delay treatment for a serious problem. You would be surprised how much the purse can put people in denial and make them put off treatment sometimes until it's too late.

Wait until we get universal coverage to push this issue.
Because alot of women with not alot of money will be hurt by this because cancer is scary and even people WITH coverage can wait too long, give a person a legit excuse(in debt forever) and the denial might go on longer just long enough to be fatal.. Even if drive by mastectomies are risky, better out than in,because cancer is not something to fuck around with. And people who can't pay for the hospital stay & the operation will delay the whole thing.
