Ratzinger REPEATEDLY ignored a dr's plea to keep a pedophile away from children
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/19/world/europe/19church.html?hp

The German archdiocese led by the future Pope Benedict XVI ignored repeated warnings in the early 1980s by a psychiatrist treating a priest accused of sexually abusing boys that he should not be allowed to work with children, the psychiatrist said Thursday.

“I said, ‘For God’s sake, he desperately has to be kept away from working with children,’ ” the psychiatrist, Dr. Werner Huth, said in a telephone interview from Munich. “I was very unhappy about the entire story.”

Dr. Huth said he was concerned enough that he set three conditions for treating the priest, the Rev. Peter Hullermann: that he stay away from young people and alcohol and be supervised by another priest at all times.

Dr. Huth said he issued the explicit warnings — both written and oral — before the future pope, then Joseph Ratzinger, archbishop of Munich and Freising, left Germany for a position in the Vatican in 1982.

Despite the psychiatrist’s warnings, Father Hullermann was allowed to return to parish work almost immediately after his therapy began, interacting with children as well as adults. Less than five years later, he was accused of molesting other boys, and in 1986 he was convicted of sexual abuse in Bavaria.

The abuser's name was Father Hullermann.

The psychiatrist did not speak directly to the Ratfucker, but, as the top investigative priest looking into this abuse for years stated, it is really not feasible that once and future pope did not know of this situation.

Hey Stupak, exactly why are you so insistent on doing the bidding of the pope anyway?

2. why is the pope interferring with health care in America?
esp. since the Vatican claims it is its own little fiefdom.

...would we let Putin tell us what to put into a health care reform bill?

3. That would be OK.
I have looked into Pootie Poot's eyes--he has a good heart and a good soul.

He's a good man.

Yep.

And whatnot.

4. Perhaps that exorcist is correct
that Satan has taken up residence in the Vatican. I can think of few things more evil than having the authority to keep a known child molester away from children and then enabling the pedophile to molest again and again.

11. Another manifestation of evil
is forcing a woman to carry a fetus to term after ensuring that safe methods are removed. These so-called 'pro-lifers' would rather see the woman die in a botched back-alley abortion than have the procedure performed safely. Fits my definition of evil. BTW, I cancelled one of the unrecs. Anyone who would attempt to suppress this information is a sick fuck.

13. ratzinger is such a horrible person
i haven't been able to go to mass since he was "elected" - i just can't pray for him (there is a part in the mass where you pray for the holy father) as some kind of leader, when i see what a corrupt and utter bastard he is...

14. in many Jewish prayerbooks there is a prayer for leaders
and when W was Prez, I would just stop reading aloud..."Grant the President and the Advisors the wisdom..."

What a joke THAT was...I could just see Bush, Rove, and Cheeeeney as the recipient of God's just and righteous 'whatevers'...

20. for a religion
Edited on Sat Mar-20-10 08:31 PM by RainDog
praying for leaders makes sense to me - when the prayers are neutral.

what religion does best is cultivate compassion. or rather, religion is at its best when it cultivates compassion, no matter what a person is about.

the golden rule is what it all comes down to and where they all fail.

we don't hear any concern about compassion or humility or any of those actions that we all associate with anyone who claims they speak as someone who cares about a god - this is in any of the right wing religious leaders - whatever their religion.

in other words, what I see in American life is the total and utter failure of religion because it now serves as a way to justify oppression and hatred.

so I am happy to return the favor because they are powerful organizations that do not deserve the special treatment and consideration they receive.

in the case of the leadership of the catholic church over the last twenty years - they are as utterly corrupt and disgusting as Falwell or Dobson. I'm amazed when people defend them here.

do people also defend Falwell and Dobson on this forum and try to pretend their religious belief is attacked when others refuse to respect the abuse of power?
