1. I have a broken bone in my spine
so you can bet I'd hotfoot it over to an ortho guy to see what my options are for getting it fixed. Gluing sounds like the best one so far.

Yes, it hurts.

3. Retire and let someone else have a job.
I only keep working for the insurance.

4. I ins. I really wouldn't do much different... I do need to schedule a physical and a trip to the
gyno.. but that is routine yearly maintenance. At least I would know that whatever they found wouldn't possibly financially devastate my family or put us on the street.

5. Other?
1, 2, 3, and 5.

#4 wouldn't apply as that would not be covered by single-payer, but only by supplemental insurance from private companies.

8. By 2030, 78 million 'boomers' will have turned 65
!!

Although, by then I doubt we'll have Medicare

7. Work for a non-profit or start my own company...
Things that are currently off the options list, due to chronic medical conditions and insurance only available through working for "the man" in some form.

10. Because I hate rich people and love wealth redistribution...
...I'd just have to start juggling chainsaws. And driving a Ford Pinto. And stop wearing my seatbelt. And I'd start smoking. And I'd eat only bacon fried in lard and dipped in Velveeta. And I'd hit obnoxiously on the girlfriends of muscular, possessive, protective mixed-martial-arts fighters.

I WANT MY SHARE OF THE LOOT!!!!!

12. Bacon fried in lard and dipped in Velveeta is bad for us?
You couldn't have posted that years ago?

16. I was busy sitting too close to the TV while dipping my lard-fried bacon in Velveeta.
I was also running around the edge of the pool with scissors immediately after eating the bacon, too.

11. This poll is useless without the "dance a jig in the street" option.

13. I'd check in with a cardiologist
Edited on Fri Mar-19-10 12:58 PM by supernova
about my condition, which I was born with.

My employment, therefore healthcare, has been sporadic this decade.

I'd also go to the dentist. I need to get a tooth fixed. And because of the cardiac condition, I need antibiotics before I can go to the dentist and I need a script for that.

After all that's done, I'd do my usual routine care.

14. I'd make an appointment for my husband to see his cardiologist
and get prescriptions to get back on his medications and start looking at getting him in for bypass.

15. I'd have less fear of going to the doctor
I recently bought an insurance plan but I'm afraid to use it for various reasons but one is expense.

But with the single payer I know the expense would be maangeable so I would have less fear of seeing the doctor.
