"It's not the economy, it's the media, stupid"
The account over at Media Matters regarding David Broder's shall we say "inconsistencies" (http://mediamatters.org/items/200704280002) has me steaming this morning. The "conventional wisdom" types need to be held to account not only by us, but by elected officials themselves.

Remember when Ray McGovern, former CIA analyst, had to ask Rumsfeld himself about his own statements? (http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8HD8B805&show_article=1)? It's driving me crazy at this point, and if the Dems want to be successful, they must address this. Okay, I'm done.

3. It's not all the people's fault
that idiots who are nothing more than right wing shills are considered the best journalism has to offer.

"He is a winner of the Pulitzer Prize, has been named "Best Newspaper Political Reporter" by the Washington Journalism Review, and ranked as "Washington's most highly regarded columnist" by editorial page editors and by members of Congress in a Washingtonian magazine survey."

The journalists themselves have been heaping awards on him so that you might actually come to believe he is objective. But when you read his stuff it is nothing more than the fawnings of a right wing bush lover.

"In 2005, Broder actually touted President Bush's response to Hurricane Katrina. 'Nuff said.

In December 2006, Broder praised Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld as "stalwarts of economic and national security policy." No, really.

In 2006, he called on journalists to apologize to Karl Rove for suggesting he was part of the campaign to out Valerie Plame, despite the fact that ... Karl Rove was part of the campaign to out Valerie Plame."

He is a right wing hack and has become a neocons wet dream. Yet, he is the best? What a sad statement on our corporate media where political loyalty carries more weight than real journalism and political analysis.
