Somali pirates attempt attack on Dutch warship
"These Somali pirates picked the wrong ship to hijack."

"Troops aboard the Dutch warship HNLMS Tromp fired warning shots Wednesday off the coast of East Africa as suspected Somali pirates in two small skiffs raced toward their warship, the EU Naval Force said.

After the pirates realized they had made what spokesman Cmdr. John Harbour called a "rather silly mistake," they turned around and fled. EU Naval Force personnel tracked down the two skiffs and a third suspected mothership, finding ammunition and rocket-propelled grenades on board, said Harbour, a spokesman for the EU Naval Force."

"The EU Naval Force has disrupted 11 pirate attack groups off the coast of East Africa over the last two weeks as part of a more offensive mindset to stop pirate attacks, Harbour said."

1. "But to live outside the law, you must be honest" B Dylan...
When the world comes undone, which it will; I'll maybe feel the very most sorry for Somali pirates

3. got to be honest
i love this somali piracy stuff; good straightforward violence, untainted by all the mind-numbing 20th c. dogma of ideology, which stripped all the glee from bloodshed and turned the whole enterprise into a dreary battle for western values/communism/allah etc. etc.

4. plus this is the first time
i have heard of an EU organisation performing some genuinely cool martial feat. The EU Naval Force is kicking ass and taking names! Extraordinary! I am genuinely proud to be a European for once.

5. There is a certain honesty and purity to the simple act of piracy.
Just go out there and admit you're all about holding a nation hostage for money, without any of the pretense of titles like Senator, Representative, President or CEO.

11. Yes
My point wasn't to elevate pirates, but to point out their one redeeming quality of honesty, which they have, and our elected officials lack.

7. First a french warship, now a Dutch one.
Are they (the pirates) that stupid or that desperate? Not that I'm complaining, it does make it easier to catch them when they offer themselves up on a platter.

10. I wish they would have held the pirates and their boats
Offering to exchange them for all boats currently held by the pirates on shore.
