Take That, Bart Stupak: Catholic Orgs Rally Behind Reform Bill

With so much Stupak in the news lately, it's refreshing to see major developments over the past 24 hours in Catholic/Christian support for the health care reform bill.

First, from Catholic hospitals, as reported by WaPo:

A group representing Catholic hospitals Saturday rallied behind President Barack Obama's health care bill ahead of a House vote in which anti-abortion lawmakers could play a decisive role.

The chief executive of the Catholic Health Association, Carol Keehan, wrote on the group's Web site that although the legislation isn't perfect, it represents a "major first step" toward covering all Americans and would make "great improvements" for millions of people.

And next, a letter to Congress from a group of influential Catholic and evangelical leaders:

As Christians committed to a consistent ethic of life, and deeply concerned with the health and well-being of all people, we want to see health care reform enacted. Our nation has a rare and historic opportunity to expand coverage to tens of millions of people, make coverage more affordable for all families, and crack down on many of the most harmful practices of the health insurance industry.

2. May he have a bad primary, too.
Also recommended. What a dismal person he is. I am a native Michigander. I guarantee you, his constituents in the UP desperately need health care insurance reform. He doesn't give a rat's ass about that. Throw the bum out.

3. they are deeply concerned about their balance sheets.
if there is one thing the catholic church wants more than control of women, it is to shed the burden of charity care from their very profitable, but untaxed, hospital system.

6. Now, what conceivable purpose(s) could your OPINION serve? Divide much lately?
Edited on Sun Mar-14-10 01:31 PM by patrice
Certainly Division is the most common and most easily accomplished of e-rhetorical goals.

I wonder if you could please establish for me why/how your post is not about Division, please and thank you (in advance).

7. You mistake that portion of a hierarchy that is corrupt for the church itself. That's the same as
saying all persons living in what is known as the USA are the same thing as those who are their corrupt TPB.
