1,000 posts is one of those arbitrary "milestones" that really don't signify much of anything. Some people rack up this number in a few months. Others take years or simply drift away after finding a pretty low tolerance for unsupported talking points.

It occurred to me that, in posting 1,000 times, I must have READ perhaps 100,000 posts. Some of those were disgusting; some were inspiring; and, some made me say "HUH?" But, overall, Democratic Underground has been the most consistently worthwhile reading I've done these past several years.

6. Not just worthwile reading...

There has been serious information on here over the years that has had concrete results on my finances, health and well-being, intellectual integrity, - you name it, DU has enriched every aspect of me and my family's lives. My daughter turned vegetarian because of the posts regarding horrific factory-farm animal abuses over the years. We'll be planting only heirloom seeds in the garden this year because of the posts regarding Monsanto and GM crops. And on and on...

You just can't beat the diversity of Liberals and the benefits of being around so many unique personalities.
