It's a miracle!

Despite record snow, Boehner's tan doesn't fade
March 4, 2010, 4:12 pm by Christina Wilkie

Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio) has long said he gets his famous tan from playing a lot of golf. Others on Capitol Hill, however, suspect that the minority leader uses some type of tanning device.

No one has proved that Boehner's tan is artificial, but let's face it -- getting a natural tan in Ohio is difficult in the middle of the winter. Sure, Boehner travels to warm parts of the country on occasion, but his tan never seems to fade.

As Boehner over the last several months has been closely tracking Democrats' plans to reform the nation's healthcare system, ITK has been closely monitoring the Ohio lawmaker's tan.Take a look at these three photos of the lawmaker, shot in October, December, and January. Despite record snowstorms in Washington, D.C., and more than 50 days of snow in Ohio, Boehner somehow maintains his bronze glow.

Moreover, according to scores posted on the Golf Handicap and Information Network, Boehner hasn't golfed since October. (He shot an 85 that day, which is high for the 8 handicap.)

Even President Barack Obama couldn't help but give the leader some grief. During a speech last year, Obama joked that Boehner is "a person of color, although not a color that appears in the natural world."

4. If he gets his tan from any sun, he's going to age horribly and is a candidate for skin cancer
Other than than, I hope he enjoys himself.

9. Easy to tan folks don't get skin cancers like fair skinned people do
We just get dark and thats the whole purpose of the pigment that causes the dark color. I know I'm one of them easy to tan and that last a long time. My wife on the other hand has to work at a tan and she has had a couple places burned off already.

12. Well I don't know about the skin cancer rate in darker/easier to tan skin, but...
the skin is still being damaged whether or not cancer develops.

So, easy to tan skin might not get cancer at the same rate as lighter skin, but it can still end up looking like an old leather shoe left out in the rain and sun too long.

And who wants to look like Granny Clampett's boot?

;)

15. I don't know about the damage part
but I'm a few days short of 62 years old, worked out in the sun for most of my work history and my skin looks like I might be in my mid 30s, the hair, even though I still have all of it throws that thought out the window though, if you get my drift. I think its the pot smoking thats doing it for me :-)

11. I can't even remember how many times I've tried to make that point to younger people
who just don't believe it could ever happen to them.

Or don't want to think about what their skin could look like 20, 30, 35 years in the future.

So many of them then go on to ask what sorts of creams or lotions women with good skin use.

OK, I'm 57. I've been told my skin looks like it's 35. I never spent a lot of time in the sun, which is one reason. Plus good genes.

I use soap and water, and Noxzema. That's it.

So I have to laugh, and sigh, at the same time when I see young women baking themselves in the sun and then thinking they need to spend lots of money on "good" facial creams/lotions to get rid of the damage they've done.

What can you do...

7. for the record
I'm white as snow, or my ass is but the rest of me, like my legs, stomach, chest, back and arms where I go unclothed during the summer is damn near as dark as boners is right now and this has been a long winter so far. Some people, like me for instance, tan easy. When I was working out in the sun every day I would get damn near black. I think ole boner has toned down his spray-on a tad here lately though as he doesn't seem to be as sprayed on looking as he used to.

8. That isn't "tan". It is Kraft Mac & Cheese chemical Oompa-Loompa orange.
I don't know what the fuck he puts on his skin, but it just isn't right.
