Some advice on getting the word out on bush's latest power grab...
Edited on Mon Jan-29-07 11:53 PM by cynatnite
You want to wake up some people? Start with some letters to the editor of your local paper. You can post it here at DU. We've got some real brainiacs with great writing and editorial skills that can help tighten it up and advise on making it more effective.

Get on the phone, folks. Call your representatives and your senators. Even if they're worthless like what TN has. We've got Corker and Alexander. Worthless assholes, if you ask me, but they're on my 'to call' list tomorrow over this shit.

This is a great way to start, folks. I became more politically active doing these few things that only take a few minutes out of my day. I write, call and email. I contact my representatives, other states' representatives, the Democratic party, bloggers and so on. The list goes on.

Once you start, it's surprising how easy it gets. :)

3. Public pressure can get them moving...
It's important that as many people as possible get on the phone, email, write letters or whatever to let them know we're not going to put up with this shit. :)

It does work. I've been on DU long enough to have seen it done. We actually got Tweedy to retract the crap he was spewing about Kerry during the 2004 elections. Many of us worked our asses off to correct the lies being spread about him.

I think that's partly why there is some resentment toward Kerry. While we did our best to counter the lies, he didn't do much about them which could have made a bigger difference in the final result.
