US Rejects Timeout Between Iran and West
Mohamed ElBaradei, director-general of the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency, has proposed a "timeout" in the confrontation between Tehran and the UN Security Council under which Iranian nuclear work and UN sanctions on Tehran would be simultaneously suspended.

But acting US Ambassador Alejandro Wolff said a Dec. 23 council resolution specified that the sanctions could be suspended only after Iran fully and verifiably suspended its nuclear enrichment and reprocessing activities.

"So that is very clear, and it is not subject to reinterpretation," Wolff told reporters.

Russian UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin sounded more encouraging about the proposal, which ElBaradei offered at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, last Friday.

2. the US is in violation of the NPT
It's allies India, Pakistan, and Israel don't comply with the NPT. The US provides India with nuclear tecnology, probably is responsible for proliferation in Pakistan and Israel. All three nations are rewarded with US military contracts and other aid.

There is no evidence that Iran has violated the NPT, they have not attacked anyone, so why are they subject to sanctions? They are not even going to be allowed peaceful nuclear technology.

It's the cuckoo bizarro world of war profiteers, petrodollars and colonialism.

3. Yes you're exactly correct.
I believe Congress has to change decades old law that stated that nuclear technology trading is prohibited to non-NNPT countries.

What did Bush Inc do? He gave India nukes for mangoes, repeals decades old law and tells us to fear Iran.

What a friggin joke.
