I thought they handled the (non)lighting of the fourth arm of the torch so wonderfully! The whole thing was lighthearted fun, which we all need more of these days. (all joking aside) :D

6. That was perfectly brilliant, perfectly Canadian!
Talk about making lemonade from lemons!

But NBC should be ashamed!

20. Actually GENBC was way more gracious to the
Canadians than expected. I agree they handled that badly. I love people who can laugh at themselves. Bravo Canadians - good show.

5. I didn't know they grew psychedelic mushrooms in Canada....
but whoever came up with that closing ceremony had to be tripping pretty bad.

7. Very appropriate!

I'm sure I'm not the only one who turned off the TV and didn't watch their cheesy new reality show. Nor did I turn it on again when the incompetent NBC was ready to resume their airing of the closing ceremony.

10. I don't know. When I turned it off as the cheesy show came on, I didn't turn it back on again.

8. I thought it was really enjoyable...
What a hoot. Dancing skating lumberjacks, mounties and hockey players, flying moose and maple leafs, giant beavers. Michael Buble! What a contrast to the Russian presentation. That dour-faced gray-clad chorus sounded like they were singing a tragic opera in Klingon. OMG, if that's their national anthem, oy! For one thing, it went on for 10 minutes. I hope they don't win a lot of home gold. After two weeks of hearing the very melodic and pleasant "Oh, Canada," I don't think I could stand 16 days of that dirge.

11. Is it worth replaying it?
I was busy last night. I really enjoyed watching downhill and nordic skiing for the last two weeks, though.

12. I'm with you all the way. Nice to see a "ceremony" that is fun and lighthearted
and not overly worried about political correctness. Could you imagine what the reaction would be in the US if the closing ceremony included jokes about peeing in the snow? Or Shatner's "juan de fuca" joke? I thought it was terrific.

14. If you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?
We have enjoyed the entire Olympics. The final hockey game was, for us, Canucks....simply golden. It happens so rarely in a person's lifetime. One of the things I, as a canadian, admire and at the same time resent a bit, is American patriotism.

We are a multicultural nation and we proudly embrace its variety and nuance - however, this does result in a bit of a national identity crisis. However, when we won the gold medal on home ground in men's hockey....for that one precious moment, we, as canadians felt united. Trully united and proud and patriotic. It was, for me, the very first time I felt this.

The closing ceremony exemplified many traits that are uniquely canadian stereotypes - our sense of humour and ability to laugh at ourselves, is part of what makes us, us. Sorry about that, but that is just the way it is....now you know us, eh?

I loved it. Sorry that it is over.

18. Well, they had millions laughing during it and having a blast, and it seems only a few laughing
at the event itself ........ so that pretty much sums it up. We all laughed, it was funny if you paid attention and were a Canadian hearing the stereo-type comments over the years.

Beauty, eh.

The only thing I was disappointed in is they didn't do more to honour the Georgian Luger, like set up a fund for Georgian athletes or something similar. Maybe unrealistic during the ceremony and they'll do it later? I hope.

Nothing to be sorry about! I am angry that NBC cut away from the coverage of the Ceremony to pimp their new show!
