Canada became First nation to ever win most Gold medals in Winter Olympics, thus far!

5. Decided that way here maybe...
I like the Gold Medal count as the determining factor. We always have one of the largest Olympic contingent so we should win the most medals in total.

Some propaganda to make countries feel good. I'm not sure there is a definite one.


Something I liked seeing was a population to medal ration last summer games. Jamaica ruled that one. Hell, if you consider that Canada has 10% the population of the US, their 14 gold medals to the US 9 is pretty incredible.


All in all, both countries had a good Olympics. Not only did America net more total medals, I think they overperformed expectations based on world rankings. Canada clearly underperformed the first week but really pulled it out in the end to deliver a positive message for the country. Its win/win

23. To illustrate the point the local NBC station led off just now with US WON MEDAL COUNT!!
With a side mention that Canada won more gold medals than any country ever. Oh but did you hear how great WE were???
