The Democratic Party Suicide Prevention Thread
The Democratic Party Suicide Prevention Thread

Right now there is a democrat holding a gun to his head threatening to pull the trigger
to the chants and jeer's of Re-Thugs and TeaBag's everywhere,
Shouting, "Do it", "Do it", Dooooo It !!!

The "It" is the Corporate Welfare sham Health Care Reform Bill now being considered in the Congress.
With a walloping seventy plus percent of Americans FOR a Public Option that includes Single Payer
and a Majority of Democrats in the House, The Senate and controlling the White House we are being told
that THIS is the best they can do. Those mean old Republicans,They tell us.
The Republican Card being played to the hilt.

Stop them now, Before they pull the trigger and kill whats left of our Party

Don't ask but TELL them not to do it, Tell them we will hold them accountable.

Call, Write, Fax and E-mail OUR Representatives
Now, Today and tomorrow and everyday that remains
Tell them that we demand a Public Option with Single Payer NOW, Not ten years from now.

Contact the White House
http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact

Call the White House
(202) 456-1111

Call, Write, Fax and E-mail your Representatives, House and Senate
http://www.contactingthecongress.org/

There my very well never be another chance. Do it before they pull the trigger.
Do it for your children and your loved ones, Just do it.

There's a man with a gun over there, Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down ....

2. It is circling the drain as we speak
Few times in history have Democrats had so much at stake while holding so much power.

The time is now.

3. I agree with you and I will e-mail right away...
but they do a good job of making you feel this is the best you can hope for ...take it or leave it. It's not easy to stand up to their bullshit when it means people's lives. But we have no choice, they seem to be selling us out again. But your right, we have to try and succeed.

7. They do a very good job. Remember the man holding the gun.
Fight for this and you'll be scorned not only by Re-Pukes but by members
of your own party.

Fight for it, Fight for it like you've never fought for anything in your life
It's your future and the future of your children and loved ones.

Do it man, We can do it together :) :bounce:

This morning I convinced my neighbor to finally get involved and call our senators. I had to write down what she should say.

It's not easy to explain all of this to folks who are completely clueless. You have to picture me telling this women why neither party is giving us a good choice and what it is we really need. It's no wonder the message gets lost.

It took a long time but I used her own situation (she is unemployed and on the Cobra subsidy) to get her to understand. The fact that congress is holding up on extensions for U.I. and Cobra helped but I had to tell her about that too. It's a freakin' uphill battle!

15. I plan on scaring my Dad straight with the news that Mississippi has...
cut Medicare reimbursement by 21%. It seem to me that lots of folks on Medicare don't think they have a dog in this fight. I believe that little piece of news should be a wake up call for the elderly that their health care will never be secure until we ALL have guaranteed care. Here in NJ if they lowered payouts to doctors by that much you wouldn't be able to get care even with a standard supplemental policy.

24. To hear the M$M
tell it the Tea Baggers represent the regular American and no one wants HCR.

They seldom mention that most Americans want the single payer/public option. So I see the problem as control of information by the M$M. The public is constantly being pounded with "The American people don't want this HCR bill."

10. And how far have we come .....
Since the deepest darkest days of our Democracy when the Neo-Con cabal STOLE the presidential
elections of 2000 by less than 550 votes only to begin eight long years of rot and ruin while we stood with the minority Democrats hoping and praying that one day, One day we would once again be in a position to do something about it.These are the days when Democratic Underground was born.
These are the days when we CAN do something about it.

I cant get out of my head the recent call to one of the progressive radio show I listen to
I believe it was Ed Schultz. The man wept, Literally wept as he recounted the story of his dead
wife at the hands of the Insurance Death panels and then fed on her body like vultures on a road
kill afterwords by jacking up the prices on a women already dead thanks to their own greed.

This is America circa 2010, Don't let them do this. Please.

14. For our household, it is too late.
My spouse was one of the most fervent Obama supporters that has ever walked the face of the earth.

But he watched carefully last year as I pointed out that for most of us, Obama was no where to be seen.

Both of us are old enough to remember LBJ. I do not mean to paint that man as a saint or hero, but when it came to getting the People of the USA what was morally just and right, in terms of civil rights, no one stopped him. The Civil Rights legislation that he sponsored was signed into law the first week of July
1965, during his first, real elected term of office. And that was because he used the bully pulpit, and because he stomped on the opposition's damn carotid artery when they opposed him.

16. Your right about LBJ and FDR was another
Those kinds of Dems fought like hell for what they knew was right.

And I understand the Obama thing, I was one of 'em
But my family and my countries future comes before any damned political party
whether it be led by Obama or anyone else.

Do it make the calls at least, before this thread sinks into obscurity and everyone
goes back to sleep. Please.

18. I have given up on calls.
My time and energy can go to better things that that. I mean, scratching my arse is a more worthwhile activity!

I stopped calling the day that the WH intern laughed at me.

I may go back to calling when Obama deposes Rahm or Geithner. (Same day as when Hell Freezes over.) But I cannot believe that anyone in office, at least not in the Senate or the WH cares about We the Little People.

Occasionally I do call Maxine Waters, Kucinich or other House members to tell their staff how much I appreciate them. The Staff at those offices acts like they are not used to appreciation.

19. If this piece of shit bill passes, expect the DLC to pose under a "Mission Accomplished" banner
just like Chimpy did (stuffed flight suits optional, of course).

Because the mission of the DLC from day one has been to destroy the Democratic Party from within, and this will complete that sickening goal.

It is amazing how short-sighted the bill-killers are. While they say that passing this bill would somehow be suicide, when in reality not passing the bill would be political suicide. You are in a tiny minority of the Democratic party (though your participation in the echo chamber makes the bill killers feel much more important and numerous than they actually are).
