"Military Intelligence Overstepped Boundaries with Alaska Group"
Edited on Sat Feb-27-10 10:26 PM by Arctic Dave
"Documents just declassified by the Defense Department show the military intelligence community overstepped its bounds when looking into an Anchorage-area anti-war group in 2005.

With a paper trail that leads to the Pentagon, the string of communications show how the military responded to an internal violation of investigation protocol - when they circulated, by name, the Alaskans for Peace and Justice group within their Joint Task Force."

For people who thought that the military collecting info on peace groups was just an isolated event.

I actually was at this demonstration. Hey military, go fuck yourself.

1. Don't suppose Military keeps that close an eye on those separatist guys up there
Nah, that might be un-safe. Better to chase a bunch of peace advocates down.

2. Oh come on now ...you don't actually expect the military to not be working to subvert civilian...
groups do ya? As a side issue, I am feeling more and more that DU is not a place for those who are anti war and anti 700+ billion a year military budget especially when some of the money is spent to spy on civilians who want peace. It makes it look like the military wants to have war and killing and will try to subdue those who work against war. Kent state was not enough for them either.

7. Kick to the pants of War Inc.
US Army is great. The leadership has not always matched the institution.

Spying on civilians, eh? Those new to the subject: Google Martin Luther King + army for some more shocks.
