Larry King: "Why were the scientists WRONG about the Hawaii tsunami?".
:grr:

Um..Larry.. the scientists were NOT wrong.. it was the MEDIA that kept hyping it and escalating the expected size of the wave.. very early in the day, it was reported that the buoys had recorded waves at 2.5 ft..and yet the media kept morphing it into 3 ft , then 5 ft, and even 9-10 ft....

I've kept tabs on this story all day...flipping channels..and I have heard "stats" all over the place

...the quake was :

500 times stronger than Haiti's ( is it a contest now?)
700 times stronger
1,024 times stronger (complete with math to "prove" it)

One intrepid "reporter" tried to conflate 500K HOUSES damaged ..into 500K CASUALTIES

We've had numerous meteorologists weighing in, but very few seismologists or oceanographers .. (Why is an earthquake or a volcanic eruption referred to the weather-people?)

3. Yep, they were just like ambulance chasers waiting for the bad to happen.
As has been talked about since at least 2000, we don't have any news organizations any more.

4. That's why weather men invented the "heat index"
Why say it's 89 degrees when you can say it "feels" like 112?

6. Why are we so desperate to see "scientists" proven wrong?
We even make up shit to claim they are wrong, when clearly they are not.

Who do you think is responsible for developing these puters that we all sit and opine on? It was scientists.

Who perfected the technology that enabled freepers and other asshats to drive around in the suv's and hummers they love so much? Scientists.

Who brought us the radio transmitters and receivers that enabled us to hear Limpballs, Beck, Savage Weiner, and "Dr." Laura on a daily basis? Why that would be scientists.

In the USA of the 21st century, we hate and mistrust smart people, and worship ignorance and superstition. Doesn't bode well for our future, IMHO.

7. Translated: We didn't get the devastation we were promised
Or it could be scientist don't know anything

Take your pick.

The media is so fucked up it can't stand it when people don't suffer.

11. U.S Media hoping for disaster and carnage to boost their
ratings. This is today's media, they are worthless.
