The morons in the control room at MSNBC should be fired (HI
Shuster keeps scolding them for:

1) showing surfers from 3 hours ago - Shuster keeps taunting them about it, yet they seem obsessed with this pre-recorded footage :eyes:
2) Showing Diamond Head beach predominantly - even though nothing interesting is happening there while Hilo Bay is much more interesting
3) Shuster has to repeatedly tell them to remove the "Breaking" banner which is covering the rushing water :eyes:
4) they zoom in so far that the picture is so fuzzy that you can't make out anything.

ARRGHH! Granted this whole episode isn't that dramatic, but they are doing everything possible to miss it if anything interesting does happen - doh!

3. Thanks
This is pretty much a big yawn anyway, but they can't even screw that up properly on MSNBC - lol.

2. That's interesting! How often does
an anchor of the same station scold other producers/and whomever of being so lame in their news presentation or lack thereof? :)

23. Only when they REALLY screw up and make him look bad
because he's the one in front of the camera. (I used to work at a local TV news station.) Seems like this kind of coverage qualifies.

Weekends are for Lockdown and To Catch a Predator.

11. Good point. This is the weekend production crew..
The ones with lowest seniority. Pretty much the B Team. If you watch any newscast anywhere there are always more production "glitches" than during the weekday.

6. I usually watch MSNBC, but have CNN on today...
They've had excellent live coverage since early this morning, just now are reporting live from Hawaii, giving minute-to-minute reports with cameras on the coast and overhead shots, including Google Earth.

16. Have CNN on since 5:30 am
after taking an antsy dog outside. They've done well with using local feeds in particular.

20. I've had it on since early this morning, too...
And they really have had excellent coverage. I managed to take my dog out, as well, which isn't always easy, since it's snowing here (again!) in Northern NY, and he hates "weather..." But I guess I should be counting my blessings weather-wise... :-(

15. I don't know, I watched earlier and they had this idiot waving his hands and arms in front of a map
of Chile and his hands were moving so fast it was hard to determine what the fool was trying to communicate. Where do they get these jerks?

17. My thoughts exactly, Hugh. But
I've been going back and forth between MSNBC and CNN and CNN ain't much better.
I've already posted on another thread about it. I was hoping for a Mr. Science education on tsunamis...they had 14 hours warning to set up their cameras, after all.
Instead we're getting utter nonsense.

22. Fox will claim it's a scam having something to do with Obama's birth certificate.
Orly Taitz will come on and agree. Sarah Palin will say people are wondering. Hannity's show will run a chyron asking "Tsunami, just another way to avoid the questions about Obama's citizenship?" Satirist Rush Limbaugh will opine that only a retard wouldn't know that tsunamis are caused by liberals.
Finally the main stream media, in the interest of fairness, will devote 20 seconds to a sentient being asking, "Are you people fucking kidding me?" They will then close the segment with something along the lines of, "Questions still exist, and we will continue to search for answers."
Assholes.

24. I switched over to CNN. Didn't want to. I prefer Shuster, but NBC News has lost it's edge.
NBC spends too much money on the Today Show, and not enough for the rest of their News division, which includes MSNBC.

When Michael Moore was on the Today Show last year he criticized them for still having the same temporary cameramen & other crew members that were there a year earlier when he was on the show. Moore was like Come on, guys, NBC can afford to hire these people. Pay them a decent salary with benefits and health care. These people have families.

I mention this because there must be plenty of frustration over at NBC - whether the crew is temporary or employed by NBC.

I remember when Bush* was in office, the NBC news people complained about MSNBC and their embarrassment over it's nightly news shows being so anti-Bush*. So I'm sure there is territorial competition between the two. Maybe even sabotage.

I just Googled NBC News and found this article on their cost cutting measures:

need something to do, so they move them to Saturday news.
