Do you think Obama knew Pelosi was going to bring up the Public Option? And
did I read her right -- was she essentially putting it BACK on the table?

5. It doesn't matter if Obama knew
The PO has always been on the table.

All the "PO is dead" proclamations have been bullshit.

8. nancy pelosi closing statement
I think she brought it up in connection with trying to make the point to the Repubs that: look at all we gave up, and how many Repub. points we included, and what did you (Republics) give up???? I was surprised that she mentioned it, no one has mentioned it in weeks, other than progressive pundits and Sanders. Man, I wish they would do some super manipulation and get public option through on reconciliation. I'm not going to lose sleep over it, tho. The Republicans looked like such fools today; they are fools, selfish and mean. they have no business being in public life.

9. Everyone knew what everyone else was going to say.
That also means that Dems knew what GOPers were going say and GOPers knew what Dems were going to say.

Anyone with half a brain in audience knew it too.

17. Perhaps you just don't have a very good memory.
Because everything that was said by anyone, has been said before--many times.

They say that your memory is the second thing to go. :)

12. That is exactly what I heard her say - that it was a part of the package, deal with it.

14. More Sausage Making...
Remember...the PO was in the version the House passed out last fall (I know an eternity) and whatever the Senate passes has to be approved in this House. Pelosi had put down the marker several times...been solidly behind the Public Option and was reminding all that whatever the Senate decides will have to meet muster with the House. I'm certain the administration knew she was going to say that and her timing sounded more like a threat to the rushpublicans that they can obstruct what the Senate works out or have to deal with a far more "librul" House bill in reconciliation.

The whole "exercize"...or more appropriately dog and pony show was to show how obstinate and out of touch the rushpublicans are and to justify going forward without them...trying one last time to see if some kind of public opinion could sway a Collins or Snowe. The fact the GOOP did nothing but lame talking points that were refuted all day long means little as this fight is too far along for any moderation. Thus I expect we'll see reconciliation go into action within the next couple weeks.

20. Someone had to say something about it.
Too bad it's been a dead horse since August. I've faulted Nancy before, but on the health care debate she's at least been with us on the public option.
