The simple response to Enzi's charge at the summit that Republicans weren't involved in the HCR process.

1. Didn't the Republicans sneak the Patriot Act in by submitting it at
3:00 am or something? No one had time to read it before the vote, etc.

I can't be sure, but I thought it was the Patriot Act. In general, to answer your question, NO the GOP has rarely involved Democrats in the drafting of their bills. I remember there were many issues during the Bush years, but we aren't supposed to remember the GOP did the same things to Dems that they are complaining about now.

The Republicans lowered the bar. They just don't like it when someone else uses the same tactics they've used in the past.

3. As I recall The Dancing Hammer was famous for his fuck 'em approach to pluralism.

That was Republican rule from 1994 to 2006.

PS: Republican tears over how poorly they've been treated are glycerine. And this is how much I feel for them:

:no pity:

5. Agreed. NO PITY whatsoever for the GOP.
They created this mess. They refuse to accept responsibility for it. They are blocking everything the Dems are trying to do, and then take credit when something good happens.

HYPOCRITE doesn't even begin to scratch the surface.

This is now.

Seriously, I'd like to see the Democrats start hammering these obstructionary motherfuckers with "up or down vote" and "majority rules." There is no need to get into congressional arcana like the reconciliation process, which most folks don't understand or care about. But everybody understands "majority rules." Oh, and that "elections have consequences." Shove all three of those up the Republicans' pasty white rumps and refuse to listen to any more of their sore-loser whining.

4. Sensenbrenner turned off the lights & the mic on Senate Dems...
...during hearings on the Patriot Act... right in the middle of testimony.

Perhaps we should follow their model.
