So, honestly, what will be the result of the health care summit?
We have seen this play before, the rolls have only changed a little but all the players are still the same.

-the repukes will look like the asses they are

-then the Dems will scold them and use their patented feigned indignation/finger wagging

-then there will be all sorts of heated discussion about how the Dem's kicked their ass

-then there will be all sorts of puffed up buffoonery by the Dem's to "pass this now!!!"

Which will then turn into...

-wait wait!!! we can't! for some fucked up reason or another.

-Some false flag controversy will pop up.

-Everyone will look in that direction

-then finally the debate will slowly fade away.

Like all of this hasn't happened before.

folks, stop being so gullible to the manufactured bullshit that is constantly thrown at us to keep us off balance.

1. Nothing will change.
Repukes will still be dicks. Dems will still be less-than-bold. The proposed bills will still lack a real public option. Obama will still be "the closest in recent history to health care reform". It is looking like he will carry that title through his term(s).

This is not about health care, it's about insurance company bailouts, profits and regulations.

9. The Republicans are running true to form because they know they're going to lose
What I'd like to see is the Democrats, rather than arguing on Republican turf and terms about the "nuclear option" and the horrors of "reconciliation," simply say that they're governing by the time-honored concept of "majority rules." Toss that "elections have consequences" meme right back in the Republicans' insipid faces, and act like we the people handed the Democrats the White House and large majorities in both houses of Congress for a reason. Goddammit.

13. it was the public demonstration of "bipartisan" outreach by the dems
it demonstrates (again) to the american public that the senate is a plutocratic, sclerotic anachronism.

it clears the road for reconciliation, and gives cover for the DINOs & other dems in tough races this november.

i'm trying to be optimistic - reid finally sounds like he's had enough and will move forward. at this point i want SOMETHING for a year of dysfunctional effort.

it will also highlight the DINO problem: the 8 democratic senators who vote against the bill (and there will be 8 of them) will clearly identify themselves as primary targets early enough to find challengers for 2012, 2014, 2016.

to support their unsupportable position that nothing productive should be done by the US government while Democrats are in charge.

Nothing will have changed whatsoever. It won't even provide the spineless Senate Democrats enough cover to Reconcile their monstrosity of a bill through.
