MTA to layoff 1,000, sources say
Source: WABC

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The MTA plans to layoff more than one thousand workers as early as Tuesday, sources told Eyewitness News.

The layoffs will likely include more than six hundred administrative staffers from the various MTA divisions.

On top of that, 450 subway station agents are also expected to lose their jobs.

The layoffs will help the cash-strapped MTA save approximately 50-million dollars.

1. Needed bailout of states... not banks.
Just imagine how many jobs it would have saved.

2. Temporarily
I'm of the opinion this is an energy cost crisis.

What they actually needed and still need is more funding of alternative sources and public transportation.

That being said, this is the exact opposite of what you want to see happening.

3. Oh boy.
The MTA just hit our entire region with insane fees that businesses are scrambling to cover, and now this? Where does it end?

This is why we need infrastructure investments instead of friggin' tax cuts for the rich.
