We need a new term for what Obama & Company are doing.
It's not appeasement since that implies one has a powerful enemy to appease and the GOP is in a minority for now. It's a sort of unecessary and unusual giveaway to those who loathe you and will shut you down completely when given a chance. I don't get it and I don't know what to call it and I'm not sure even the Greeks had a word for it. Help me out here, please.

8. Third Way
As it was called under the Clintons.

The reality is that the Democratic Party today is no longer the same as the one under FDR, just as the Republican party today in no way resembles the party of Lincoln. A new age that is the antithesis of liberalism and socialism has arrived, in which candidates are seeking to solve problems by making everyone happy (the people AND private industry). This method doesn't promote the general welfare of the people in the most efficient way, because consideration for business entities normally has precedence. Government can no longer solve a problem for the people if private industry, in some way, can not profit from them doing so. In the end, they merely have to appeal to enough people that enough of the rest can be bought off at election time with their private contributions.

than that because betrayal implies some aspect of secrecy and he is giving away the store right in plain sight and for no ulterior reason that I can imagine.

Perhaps we could call it the Political Hustle, or the Democratic Party Hustle.

Here's more from the online dictionary: Ponzi, bait-and-switch, boiler room, bunco game, bunko, con, con job, confidence trick, flimflam, hustle, rip-off, shell game, skin game, sting, swindle

35. Weak Kneed and/or Rolling over like lap dogs
those two work well for my feelings on the matter because we all know good and fucking well that if the situation was reversed with the parties, that the pukes would steam roll through whatever the hell they wanted, in lock step, with their 59 votes in the senate and majority in the house, and appeal solely to their "base"
