Why do Republicans spin even illness?
Bob Dole is in hospital with pneumonia.

Here's Politico's take

Former Sen. Bob Dole (R-Kan.) is recovering at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center after a bout with pneumonia and surgery on his knee.

1. Glad old Bob is able to get the care he needs
I know someone who desperately needs a new knee - but can't afford it. And she has "coverage".

4. Had the same thought but remembered
he's not a chickenhawk - he served and was seriously injured. I'm no Dole fan of his but I'll give him his due.

6. Doesn't change a thing.
His health care is paid for directly by taxpayers(which I support). Maybe he should think of that the next time he opens his big yapper.

3. I never click on huffingtonpost links because they take forever to load.
Just, FYI. Maybe next time please include a snippet from the article.

5. Actually, I rather liked Bob Dole
Edited on Mon Feb-22-10 04:27 PM by Warpy
although there is no way I'd have voted for him. I remember seeing him on one of the late night shows in 1996 after he'd lost that election and was impressed with the man's humor.

He's one of those Republicans who's not a bad guy, just wrong.

I just wish I could get the kind of health insurance he has.

7. I saw old Bob Dole last November in DC
He was at the WWII Memorial greeting Honor Flight Veterans from Kansas. Thought it was great he did that for the veterans of his home state.

8. Dick Cheney couldn't tell the truth about his dog's health. Really. Here in DC...
Edited on Mon Feb-22-10 05:04 PM by Captain Hilts
he took his dog, 'Dave' to the same vet I did. He actually accompanied the dog to what he said was a 'regular' check-up. A week later the dog was dead.

Is it so hard to say, "Dave's been off his feed." Or, "Dave's not himself." No, it isn't, unless you are a pathological liar.

10. Are you sure Dole has pneumonia...
...and he's not in the hospital because his Viagara lasted 'more than 4 hours'? LOL... sorry, couldn't resist.

Wishing him a speedy recovery. Maybe - unlike Rush - he'll come out of it grateful, and not hateful.

11. I don't see the spin.
He's sick. He went to Walter Reed. He's recovering.
Please enlighten me. (No snark here.)
