With Signing Exec Order Bush Usurps Power Over Environment, Privacy ---NY Times Tomorrow LINK
http://www.rawstory.com/news/2007/NY_Times_Bush_gives_White_House_0129.html

If there is anyone out there who does not believe that Bush is putting together dictatorial powers as President, they obvious have their head in the sand.

The NY Times has big front page spread tomorrow detailing Bush's latest power grab, and discloses how he intends to have a 'political officer' in every agency to make sure they follow the President's policy. Sounds just like the old Soviet Union, where every submarine had a political officer aboard who could take down the highest officer aboard if they did not adhere to the party line.

This is really getting out of hand, and the confrontation with Congress is coming quicker than most people imagined --even those holding office on Capitol Hill.

I've always felt that Dub & Co., despite their conservative claims, always operated like the Soviet Politburo, and this confirms it. Can't wait until Congress has at them over this. He's spoiling for a Constitutional confrontation on several fronts, and he may just get it on this before he tries to get it re: Iran.

He really is a dry drunk out of control!:scared:

B-)

Bush Raises His Sway at U.S. Agencies (signs Executive Order giving himself more power)

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/30/washington/30rules.ht...

By ROBERT PEAR

WASHINGTON, Jan. 29 —

President Bush has signed a directive that gives the White House much greater control over
the rules and policy statements that the government develops to protect public health,
safety, the environment, civil rights and privacy.

In an executive order published last week in the Federal Register, Mr. Bush said that
each agency must have a regulatory policy office run by a political appointee
,
to supervise the development of rules and documents providing guidance to regulated industries.
The White House will thus have a gatekeeper in each agency to analyze the costs and
the benefits of new rules and to make sure the agencies carry out the president’s priorities.

This strengthens the hand of the White House in shaping rules that have, in the past, often
been generated by civil servants and scientific experts. It suggests that the administration
still has ways to exert its power after the takeover of Congress by the Democrats.

:wtf: :grr: "We're back in the USSR. Back in the USSR!!"
