A question on liberals vs. conservatives
Do rightwingers shame each other for actually believing in and demanding a conservative agenda the way that lefties shame each other for believing in and demanding liberal policies?

3. to some extent - yes
i make it a point to read at least as much conservative media as i do liberal media (not to mention libertarian sources like reason).

just like on the left, there are two basic camps

1) winning is what is needed. therefore, compromise if it will result in more won elections is ok
2) principles are what matters. stop compromising principles to pander to greatest # of voters.

exact same thing on both sides.

4. Actually, it is a conservative thing to make everyone walk lockstep.
which is why it is so odd to have supposed "liberals" calling out people for fighting to more progressive representation.

5. Conservos are too lockstep, and Liberals are too scattered.
That's the long and the short of it.

6. Were you able to watch any of the CPAC coverage?

They were booing and hissing and yelling at people who didn't follow whatever they thought the party line should have been.

It happens on both sides of the pasture, but I think liberals are more attuned to listening and empathy - at least they seem to pay more attention. Or maybe they are just not as selfish.

9. I gather that they hissed people for being too moderate...
... as opposed to the left, where anyone who pushes for actual liberal policies is treated like a fringe weirdo.

7. Depends on the kind of conservative policies
Neo cons criticize anyone not espousing pure neo conservatism, and a favorite target was the old conservatism that was typical of the GOP prior to Reagan's terms in the WH when the corporate neo cons came into power.

Our party is now experiencing the same kind of thing, but instead of neo cons its the neo liberals like the DLC/third way kind who are trying to oust any remnants of liberalism that doesnt bow down to the power of the corporations.

I know thats the opposite of what your point, but its actually closer to the truth.

10. Lefties don't blame each other for wanting progressive policy
That's what we have conservative Democrats around for.

11. That differs from my experience
From what I've seen, there's free-flowing STFU for anyone who wants the Dems to support real liberal policies.

One hears, no matter how conservative the Dem policies are, they're "pragmatic" and we should support them.

13. You just aren't hearing that from leftists.
You are hearing it from self styled moderates, i.e. conservatives.
